Cackle hatchery's Hatchery Surprise- Anybody got this before?

What have people been receiving this year in their surprise box? Can you share pictures?

I can't wait for the last week of March at this point.

I ordered mine today to come in June! Earlier in the thread I saw some discussion about keets. It was my impression that the keets came from somewhere else and weren't hatched at the same facility. I tried to get a few several years ago and they said I had to order x amount because they could't come with my chicks and would arrive as a separate order.

I think they come from Cackle. I think I saw once that they don't ship with chicks because they are aggressive--so they need their own box and minimum order.

ETA: From Cackle's website:
Cackle Hatchery ships keets in separate compartments when shipped them with other poultry. We do this because the small keets will peck the toes of other poultry and injuring them during shipment.

My husband and I purchased this years surprise on Feb 23 and we decided last night on another. Why the heck not !! We have everything we need for a large order like TWO COMPLETE Cackle Hatchery Surprises. We only requested no Ducks.

Last year we ordered a surprise and was very pleased. The box weighed almost 8 lbs. We ended up with 58 chicks of many different breeds and 3 blue slate turkey chicks (2 toms and 1 hen).


So curious to see what we get these rounds and how much each box weighs.

They will be shipped out on 3/3/14, so we should get them on 3/5/14 or the day after.


Will keep everyone updated on our 2 surprises !!!

My Cackle Surprise ships on March 3--and I want to say that SlipsWife also said her surprise ships that day too. I don't know how many of the surprises they usually do for each hatch day--but we'll have to compare. I know I'm starting to worry that my box might not be as full as I'm hoping.

So far that is a total of 4 surprises just with us on here.

I ordered one yesterday! No shipping date yet. I told them I'd sure love some ducks, geese and turkeys, and as many chicks as they can spare.

This thread was one of the primary reasons I ordered it! I had seen the ad, but was hesitant, thinking that I may just end up with 500 roosters! But it sure sounds like they try to make it a nice package.

I was thinking the same thing...I called last week in hopes of getting a surprise this week and they said there was no way. Now we know of at least 4 for the same day...either they are going to have huge hatch one the 3rd (there are a lot of breeds available that day) or we might not be as happy as we were last year...I guess we'll know more this time next week!
