I just got my order of chicks (24 Cornish X's) from McMurray and they are ALL beautiful, plump and healthy. They arrived a day before schedule....early Sunday morning, Mother's Day (PO called at 8am). Weather was cold and very windy that day too.
McMurray even threw in an extra plus my "Mystery Chick". Couldn't be happier. It is day 3 and they are all eating and GROWING fine....look even nicer than my home raised chicks!
I did order the vitamin powder that goes in their water and had them all vaccinated for coccidyia (sp?).
There is no real name for easter eggers. They are a mongrel chicken designed to lay colored eggs. Probably heavy on the Ameracana or auracana breeding but crossed with something that has decent egg production.
I have heard a lot of great things from all the hatcheries listed, but I would like to add in one little thing.
Hatcheries might be able to keep all other breeds pure and all but their Phoenix, Jungle Fowls, and Seramas (some have them)...aren't really all THAT that they claim; simply because they don't have all the time and resources to look over those listed and those really do need attention. Most aren't like what they claim...especially those 3 I have listed...
Don't expect too much if you are getting any of those from hatcheries. Hehe
