Cactus question

This isn't a great photo, the sun is so bright on them right now so I am looking down on them, however the edge pads are all laying down now compared to the second and third photos of the same plant in the late spring and mid summer...

Oh that's cool! I'm not as worried about the curled over one then, I didn't know it was normal for them to do that.
Mine doesn't have mean spines like Abby's though :p
One of mine doesn't have long spines...it would be the most dead one though 😭

Pears can look pretty rough this time of year, they have been dormant all winter and mine especially are quite thirsty. If we don't get any rain soon, I will probably water them occasionally.

That’s an excellent photo and comparison, thank you TwoCrows!

I hate to admit it, but it’s actually quite a beautiful opuntia too
I can get some photos of the outdoor opuntia as it wakes and hydrates this spring. It poked me the other day, giant spike stuck in my finger! 🤣

I had ordered that fuzzy opuntia online last summer and it came over watered, it had rust, root rot and bugs. :hmm I took the 2 best pads and tried to propagate last summer. This one took and I am hoping she does all kinds of growing this year! She is sunning herself in a morning sunbeam right now. 😊

This spikes are nasty! I got poked quite a few times clearing the grass away yesterday, and by the end I was pretty mad at the cactus. I was just trying to help, after all! :rant

It’s settled. I need a fuzzy opuntia now. You guys are bad influences :D
