Hi everyone,

I'm about to have my first pen built. What does everyone use for the bottom of their cage? I've heard that 1/2 in chicken wire is best for sanitation reasons. (There will be a drop pan underneath each pen) Would chicken wire be too hard on their feet? They will have a run out doors, so I'm mostly interested in knowing what to use in their cages. Thank you!

I personally found at my scale the dropping trays are not as convient as you would think. I have a large coop with a concrete floor and all my raised coops have wooden floors. I can pull the wagon right under the coop, scape it out clean, put down fresh bedding, and dump the wagon quick easy and efficiently. Takes me abou 35 - 40 minutes to do 8 coops.
