Cage question for quail

I am making my first quail hutch and I have each cage set up with an indoor side and an outdoor side. I wonder how big does the hole have to be for the quail to go through? I want jumbo quail.

Mine would easily go through a six inch square hole. I have Japanese cortunix. You don't say what kind of quail so you might want to make the hole a bit bigger.
