Calico Cochin bantam

Hello everyone, I have a new addition to my flock a cute little calico cochin bantam. Shes about 5-6 weeks old now and I’m hoping shes a girlI also wanted to ask about her coloration as shes starting to grow some more millie fleur pattern around her hackles and head. Since shes so white will her patterning be tight or more mottled when she grows up? I’m so excited to see how she grows

Oh dear, I'm fairly certain that's a Columbian (color) cockerel (male). Whoever told you it was millie fluer was wrong and maybe wrong on purpose.

Oh my gosh I was so close to naming her dandelion her names Tofu I got her from SeaBreeze hens! Her siblings were almost all more buff except for her and her sister were almost entirely white with little splashes of brown and blue

Its hard to see the brown (or take pictures of it) but its there I’m just curious how they'll feather out. Also the comb seems to be really yellow/orange and then pinkish in some lighting, is the comb relatively big for their age? Thank you for the reply!

The comb is brighter than I'd like to see in a same aged pullet, but it could still be one.
As for the coloring, usually colors like millie fluer start orange and get more spots and specks, not white getting darker. If you see rust coloring coming in on the shoulders and wings, it's definitely a boy.

If it is a rooster then I have a nack for getting boys haha. Thank you for the reply I also think the combs kind of iffy we shall see Also thats interesting about the millie fleur feathering, I got a few chicks and one looked partridge the other was buff and then there were two white ones. I have no idea how the color works especially since its experimental in cochins

I love that name! I've certainly seen calicos that have a lot more white in them, so be sure to update the thread once Tofu starts feathering in more.

I also agree with @nuthatched's suspicions, but one of my pekin girls had THE REDDEST comb and wattles at this age. I was positive she was a dude (and made multiple threads asking about it), but nope. Pekins seem to redden up quicker than other breeds, regardless of gender. Just to keep you guessing, right?

I’m so excited to see how (hopefully) she will feather out as she ages, I haven't been able to find any photos of mostly white calico babies but she’s growing brown millie fleur looking head feathers so we shall see
I wouldn't be surprised but Im really hoping she just has a little blushing around her comb. Chickens really live to keep you on your toes with this kind if stuff haha

I made a thread about cochin bantam chick development!! I have Calico chicks as well. Maybe it can help you.

I also think it's a boy though, I had 5 chicks with combs that big and 4 of them were boys. My mostly white calico hen was born white with a bit of brown on the back. My mille fleur ish cochin was born light patridge
