If its one boy and he is still aggressive take him out for a day put him back and watch.quails can be hard to introduce. Also they want 13 he's of daylight to lay so you are not likely to get eggs atm without lights.

Any time with 13 hours of light is the season they will lay at any time.

Thanks, chiqita! I separated the Jumbos so he only has 2 girls. I vent- sexed them. Do you know of anybody that is selling quail in norcal? I'm getting at least one egg/day for 6 girls :/ I need some more. Thanks!

From the guides it sounds like I should wait 24 hrs to see if he can zip himself out before intervening? Come on little guy... you can do it!

One of Trisha's Barnevelders pipped the wrong end on my hatch. I have no idea how long it had been pipped before I realized it since I had them in cartons. Luckily my humidity had skyrocketed with all the hatching, and I decided to replace the soggy paper cartons with dry ones to try and get it down. That is when I noticed it. Just put it on the floor of the bator pipped end up, and it hatched on its own about 3-4 hours later. Hopefully it will be that easy for you, too.

I need bubble wrap. what size? what type and size of tape? foam? what else do I need.
yeah. you need some crele penedesenca
Mine runs from heater stops at 101.5 and turns on at 98.5 I am getting about 75% hatch rate from my dark eggs and 85-90 with the white eggs I have set. Shipped eggs not so well.
I am glad I am out of school Congrats
Do you want more?
I get my bubble wrap off Ebay from TopMailers. I have purchased from other vendors and Top Mailers has the best quality. The bubbles are full and firm whereas the bubble wrap from some of the other vendors is partially deflated. The roll is perforated every 12 inches. I take one square and fold it over then wrap the egg in it. This gives the eggs extra cushion. The cost of this bubble wrap turns out to be about 7 cents per egg, so it is very affordable. I add extra bubble wrap the the sides, buttom and top of the box for extra protection.

I don't use anything beside bubble wrap and tape. If you have gaps in you box, take an extra sheet or two of bubble wrap and roll it up to take up the voids.

Alright guys, the incubator is plugged in and I visited Just Struttin' Farm today and picked up two dozen of Deann's laying flock's fertile eggs (I just have to say, Deann is so lovely and so are all her birds... but her English Orpingtons!! I die.

They were bigger than my son! So beautiful. Thank you so much Deann! It was so nice of you to have us out.) and some 10 day old fertile store bought eggs just on the off chance one or two might hatch. Anyhow, I am doing a lot of reading and trying to go back over the thread and pick out things you all have already answered, but, inevitably, I'll probably be bothering you all with questions shortly. I promise to repay you with fluffy baby pictures in about 22 days (setting tomorrow.)
You're welcome. It was fun. You're kids are adorable too. Fingers crossed for a great hatch.

Do you know what was wrong?

Update on my hatch: I have a third pip (right way up!) and have officially turned to the beer to help with the anxiety.

Thanks... I am setting some sunday and then will start collecting if I can get some bubble wrap in time

Sounds like lots of new fluffy butts are making there appearance this weekend. Do quail have fluffy butts? Hard to tell when they look like bumblebees.

They're pretty fluffy, this is a just dried bobwhite.

As they start to feather.

Quote: I'm in the Placerville area and have bobwhite and coturnix.

Unfortunately, the bubble wrap takes 7+ days to get. They offer free shipping so it goes ground and it seems like ti takes forever - especially when you are out.

Yeah!, can't wait to hatch some Pene eggs!!!! I am getting the Pene Roo from Penny tomorrow!!! Super excited.
