love them
So the eggs I picked up from your DW were all empordanesa & OE? I've been trying to do all my sets on Saturdays to make it easier to track when eggs are due to lockdown/hatch. However, this weekend's set it moving to Sunday for the Turkey Hatch. So I'm holding your eggs to set off with them. I already have 39 turkey eggs saved up. I'm still getting 5 most days, so it will be a LARGE setting of turkeys. If they do well, I hope I can find buyers for poults,

Welcome to the thread, it's a friendly and helpful group around here.

Yes, generally when they're hot, since they can't sweat.

Molly, you are certainly in the right company. I have GOT to decide on some breeds to part with, but can find a reason to keep each one. I have nearly thirty pens/coops with a different breed in each.........................and still have more coming. It seriously has got to STOP! I'm going to start giving you all permission to smack me down
no worries some may be 10 days old by then but after these three 2 week plusers I am sure they are fine
What kind of brown eggers??

I am in Roseville, and always looking for people to trade with. Unfortunately, I will probably only have chicken eggs and quail eggs. My garden won't be started for a while. I have too many projects started that I need to get "finished" so I can move on to the next one without having 6 things started and none of them ever quite finished.
Awwwwww.... they are so sweet! I love the black ones when they shine in the sun.

ok I got some white empordanesa you can take. also some olive eggers and a few crele penedesenca eggs to. Just come on up the hill and take what you want.
Too late. When I was young I dreamed of having big fluffy ladies.....A Buff Orpington to be exact. I am in my late 30's and I finally said...just do it. LOL I told my hubby 2 weeks ago I was getting chickens, and he jumped on building the coop.I know what breeds I want after researching, and can't wait to fill my coop with them!. Sadly some of the breeds I want are hard to get, and I have to start with pullets. We have 4 cats and a small house which is not conductive to chicks :(

I am so excited....I have waited 25 years for chickens
I am sure we can get you what you want

and this may be a case of be careful what you wish for... one of my SPPRs has now apparently been on the nest ALL day, puffs up when i try to look at the eggs under her, and pecks at my hand... hmm.

a couple of minutes later, edit: yep, i gathered some of the eggs from under her (left her sitting on 3 fake ones), and she's pulled a bunch of feathers from her underside, so it looks like i now have TWO broodies, one on day 6 and the other... hmm, whether to just hatch some of my own mutt eggs (SFH x various), or get some others?

Just let me know... I have almost everything...LOL

I have heard Silkies love the glamor life, bath and a blow dry and nails trimmed and dolled up. I guess that's why people say they aint chickens..

Yours look young, and it looks like you have a few very different ones in there. Is one a Frizzle? One a smooth coat? I see the Buff is a non-bearded, I love their intelligent faces.

Quail are so adorable! I'm a bantam girl with chickens, but in Davis we can't keep roosters and bantams are usually only available straight run (plus you can only have 6 pullets). Maybe quail would solve all my problems...
Do they tame down at all? I'm a big fan of avian cuddling.
Thanks, Amy Beth! Coming from you that makes my day! I have Monet help me corral and set them! The chicks were so startled that they just stood there. Now the quail, that was a different story! They jump right out of your hand so we have to be careful when do their photo shoot! Here is one of our 2 day old bobwhite quail:
