California - Northern

If anyone is interested, I have about 4 mixed breed pullets that are 6+ weeks old that I need to sell.

They are a cross between silver pencilled rocks, barnevelders and blue barnevelders.
Here is a pic of one of the silver/black pullets.

So I bought this "Bantam Wyandotte "Chicks Party Mix" Hatching Egg Variety Pack" on Ebay yesterday...

So if you mix different colored Wyandottes what do you get? Are they still technically Wyandottes, or are they like Ameraucana's (mess with the color - and now it's not an Ameraucana - it's an EE)?

They would still be Wyandottes. The Ameraucana and EE thing is not agreed upon by all breeders. I stay away from the whole thing as much as I can.

I love both Wyandottes and AMs\EEs. I bet you could make a great EE if you mixed Wyandottes and AMs.....

finally home from conference week in LA -- so good to be back!! and all seems to have gone well with my neighbor looking after the chicklets (and the Corid seems to have done its job, everyone is healthy and happy-looking), EXCEPT that while collecting freshly-laid eggs, he managed to collect three of the four marked birchen marans eggs that one of the broodies was incubating -- so now there's only one left. oh well, will have to try with them again some time.

but other good news -- I was welcomed by the first olive egg from one of the Amelias -- hooray!!

will take me ages to catch up with this thread, but hello everyone!

I did a good job picking them out for you! I picked the two that looked the closest to laying.

I am still waiting for my first one...I hope it will be soon!

I finally took some pics of my new chicks. Here's one of all of them, in their holding box while I was cleaning the brooder. I have two easter eggers, a speckled sussex, a barred plymouth rock, blue laced red wyandotte and blue orpington:

I'm pretty sure I've figured out who's who, just not sure how the orp and BLRW are going to feather out. Not sure if the orp might be a splash, can you tell at this age?
I wish I had better pics of the orp and BLRW but they are not fans of staying still.

The Orpington looks pretty light from this view... I would say splash...

you did a GREAT job, Ron! the Amelia #1 that was looking puffy before i left is still a wee bit... introverted, i will be keeping my eye on her still -- but one or the other of them laid a VERY olive-looking (both size and color) egg!

with great appreciation!!
