speaking of Isbars... all you chicken genteticists, what do you get when you put one over an Ameracucana in terms of egg color of their offspring.

A little light-hearted humor to start your day :)

Our little Roo-Man, Sprinkles. He is the SWEETEST thing!

And Sprinkles' wife, Olive. They are Olive Eggers from Miss Molly. When we got our chicks my dad asked me if we needed a rooster to get eggs. I told him I didn't need my husband to make my own eggs. LOL!

Hi all - newbie who finally found my way to this thread! Looking for people in the Elk grove/Sacramento area. We are "city-folk" in suburbia working on a new backyard flock.

This is the greatest group of crazed chicken folk you could ever hope to find!

There are two gene groups for the eggs. The first is for shell color and the second is for the coating color. Both the Isbar and the ameraucana have the blue shell gene. The Isbar has a brown coating Gene while a pure Ameraucana should not have a brown coating gene group.

The results would be green to blue eggs depending on how the brown coating color is passed on. That gets into dominance and probability factors that I do not know enough about. I bet Chikee or Chiqita can get us a great chart for it!

Isbar eggs are so pretty! I of course want some one day.....

Beautiful egg color. Up here that dark color is found on all the rocks we turn up in our clay soil. I do have a brahma that's close though.

Wha
I am in great one way mental debat ! I am not going to mix my brown and blue eggs in this current incubator I have. not worth it. the penedesenca take longer to hatch and the blue eggs are hatching quick. It is messing with my incubating mojo. so should I set just dark eggs this week ? white empordanesa and crele penedesenca or should I get my silver ameraucana's from Jerry and set them for my Olive egger project? I really need to bump my numbers of the crele penedesenca as there is much demand plus my emp's need help too. I would like to have a few pens of each by the end of summer.. oh the mental pain :idunno Here is a Emp egg I gott yesterday [/quoWhat a perfect egg! I say set more of these guys!

They aren't a breed you can sex at hatch (well, I can't anyway, LOL). They can be sexed within a few weeks. I don't remember where you're located.

Jason i could fit a tray (48-60) of eggs in the bator for you if you need it but I'm a bit far. Do they do OK with humidity in the 30's?

I'm a bit far however.

Jason, I could put some more in for you. I LOVE to hatch and trying to convince myself I don't need to fill all 500 spots in the incubators all the time with my own eggs, LOL

Quote: The worst part is no..................that's not all, LOL That's just the ones I can supply hatching eggs
