California - Northern

I had one like this guy last year (without the extra toe) and as he grew, the color in his wings got even more color! Purple, turquoise, dark blue. Yours looks like he could do the same. I think I have one like this in my 4 weeks olds. The comb isn't as pink as some of the other cockerel suspects so I'm crossing my fingers it's a she but at least I know I can sell him on Craigslist if he turns out like my other one and what I think your guy will turn into.

If anyone is looking for a beautiful roo, this guy should be a very colorful looker!
Hi All

This is supposed to be the hottest day of the week in the North Central Valley(Sacramento area). How are your chickens doing today?

I have an interesting EE project that I accidentally became a part of. I ordered SG Dorking eggs and was sent SG Dorking crossed with Americauna hatching eggs. Three of them hatched and I have the most amazing Easter Egger chickens.

This is the Cockerel:

He has a beautiful Pea comb, muffs, white legs and five toes! He also has the most beautiful coloring and should have nice blue egg genes. He is also getting big faster than the Hatchery SG Dorking from McMurray.

He is friendly too.

If anyone wants him, let me know. He is going on Craigslist today, but if any of you want him, he is yours for free.

Quote: He is 14 weeks old and has been getting to be more colorful all the time. He is easy to pick out at night too. I have to hide him in the garage at night.

My two month old bantam Polish chick, Beldar, just crowed for the first time!! I was letting him visit my adult chickens and ducks and he started crowing with wild abandon!

just a update on the icelandic chick with the bum leg. I have been giving her save a chick with the water and she seems much happier now that I put a buddy in with her.. Pulled one of the Penedesenca/welsummer x cream legbar rooster chicks just in case she has something wrong with her as far as a sickness. then I would not have to get rid of two hens..

I still have hope and am going to give them a few more days. she does not seem like she is in any real pain but when you lay her down she has a tough time getting up from her side.

That was really smart of you. I wouldn't have thought to do that! I hope she gets better!

Beautiful birds!
Sigh. Jealous.
I love the polish rock stars, but I can't have them. I'm afraid they'd get eaten if I let them free range with my main flock.

Have any of you used Vetericyn? I got some to use on a pullet with an injured eye. She got pecked in the eye, and it got infected.
I've been using the vetericyn for a couple of days (spraying it directly in the eye), and it's getting a lot better.
It's hella expensive, though. $30 for a 16-oz bottle. At least it goes a long way.
