You should purchase a copy of The Chicken Health Handbook. I can't recommend anything more highly. I have learned so much from this book. Easy to read, easy to use as a diagnostic tool.

Thank you. I ordered it. Won't be here until Thursday. Apparently there is some big holiday on July 4.

UGH I am so worried about these guys. Should I treat them with ivemectin to be safe? I have a 3rd chick doing it now. Same open mouth breathing, occasionally shakes head...nares and eyes are appearing to be dry.

I'm so sorry if I am annoying anyone. I don't know who to 'talk this out' with. I am not getting ANY feedback on my thread in the emergency post area.

The more I read, the more I watch the chicks the more certain I am that it is gapeworm. They have had access to outside since about 2 weeks old. They could have been exposed then. They have pecked and scratched the ground eating nummies so it's hard to say what they have eaten. The severity of my Orp roo says to me he is likely the first to have become infected and he is also my most active forager. Yesterday that dude was digging HOLES to find goodies. LOL
