Figured out the problem with the pictures and it is an iPHONE problem. Yup that's right! I said iPHONE has a problem. I recently switched to iPhone about 6+ months ago and I am not that impressed.

Anyway, back to chicken stuff.

Here are the first pics I took this weekend. This is already several weekends in to it. It probably took me about 3 days for the framing.

This weekend I added the bottom

The back

and the sides.

Now I am going to work on the poop board and the roost. Then I need to get the roof on and the doors and the hardware cloth around the bottom and then I could probably move them in. That means I have a lot to do this next weekend. I could probably move them in without the roof because it is closed with hardware cloth, but that seems odd to me to leave them out there like that without the roof on. I will be adding on to the run after they have been moved outside.

After I get them out there I will work on some other ventilation and I am trying to figure out how to make the nesting boxes that stick out the side of the coop. Anyone have instructions on that? I can't figure out how they are attached.....?

it looks great! my friend Henry, who built my chicken coop for me as a gift, also added an external nesting box several months later -- he built the box as a stand-along thing in his garage, then came up here to install it -- i'm not sure i can explain any of it (i'm construction-challenged myself), but have a few photos in case those are helpful:

that wall was originally just a solid panel -- so he put in that 2x4" as a "shelf" for the nesting box (on the left) to sit on

now the box is in, and he added that vertical support to both attach it to (as well as on the sides) & also provide structural support

view of the boxes from the inside -- love that perch he made for them!

view from the outside, finished! the girls love them, and when the broodies were sitting in them, they couldn't steal eggs from each other...

Lol I would have to wait for the pretty pics.  I don't find chickens pretty until they a quite a bit bigger past the awkward stage.   If you need any extra roo's, you just let me know!  I deliver!

OH, and do you think it is pretty sure they are boys if their combs are pinking up already?  Or is it maybe just a different breed thing?

I will want a roo or so;-) within the next few
months. What breeds do you have and ages?

I'm so excited!! cj silkies had to get rid of her flock, and I have 6 showgirls coming tomorrow! Been trying to organise it for a few weeks. Ended up with a lot of white instead of partridge, not sure how in the world that happened, lol. I blame my rooster flame, who KNOWS i want to replace him...

We will see if they get here tomorrow...

I have them.

Wow, I'm getting a little concerned that every time someone says "Anyone have........?", I can usually say...................I do.

I should have some beautiful wheaten, blue wheaten and splash wheaten pure Ameraucana rooster chicks available in a few months. I will have a nice variety to choose from since I am keeping all of the Ameraucana chicks I have hatched this year to choose the best roosters and pullets to keep for next years breeding program.

So is it pretty much a for sure that chicks are boys if their combs are turning pink at 3 weeks? Does anyone have any ideas on what to do with the for sure Roosters at this age? Will anyone take them? Or do I have to wait until they are bigger?

Where has everybody gone on this thread? It has been really quiet for a week or so......

I was trying to upload photos of my coop progress and they are only uploading upside down or sideways. I haven't had that happen before. Any ideas?
Auction or craigslist...

Unwanted Roos as soon as I know they're Roos for sure they go into their own pen or if they're mixes they go on a long walk with my husband and the mama fox gets them :)

Someone was asking about processing. Since I don't keep great track of age of grow out boys I do it by eye. Do they look big enough to eat? For heritage breeds its between 4-5 months or so.

Depending on how many we do we sometimes skin as it is a lot faster
