. It looks hi-tech, like a spaceship incubator.
I'm setting some more eggs tonight (from the same guy I got the shipped eggs from last time -when only 2 of 15 hatched). I have some more shipped egg questions. I know some one on here said when eggs are shipped they need to be able to breath (not be wrapped completely in plastic). Why do they need to have oxygen when they aren't developing? I noticed the shipper sends his eggs completely wrapped and taped in bubble wrap. What does sitting the eggs at room temp do that is differant from setting them in the incubator without turning? I got the eggs today, and they have been "sitting" for 12 hours, is that long enough or should I wait a full 24? He doesn't ship eggs over 3 days old, so at the most they are a week old.

The eggs never stop developing--they slow down a bunch. They do not need too much air so they would be ok if shipped quickly. The longer they stay wrapped up the lower the hatch rate will be.

I bet you will have a great hatch!

Thanks for the good thoughts -I'll need them- lol. I really want a Partridge Wyandotte, and only have 3 of those.... The eggs kinda freak me out because they are so tiny, some are the size of a Silkie egg.

I have decided smaller eggs ship better. The membranes stretch less.

Quote: My Silkies eggs are bigger than my Partridge Wyandotte Bantam's eggs. Those things are teeny! And roundy too, I bet she would lay a golfball one if she felt like it! I have hatched out three so far (one in the incubator, two under Silkibator). The chicks are cute. If you want a little PWB boy .. I think I can be talked out of him

Still hoping for more girls since I only have one. I put my pair back in the mixed bantam coop or I would offer you some hatching eggs. Right now I think its Silver Phoenix x Partridge Wyandotte Bantam - since SP is boss of banty pen...

I have a mutt (Silkie x ?) that is laying some of the smallest chicken eggs I have ever had (I haven't had a Serama or OEGB .... yet). Its a very pretty glossy brown.. but so tiny!

Probably has eggs in it already.....
no I am holding tight. Someone had crele penedesenca on ebay. I said well wanna trade and sent him 18 eggs. so I get some back next week. This bator only holds 18 penedesenca size eggs. smaller eggs you can get 21
