My SG Dorking Mimi stopped being Broody when I moved her last Fall. This Spring she hatched out a chick but I did not move her. Each day I had to pick out the other hens eggs in her nest.So Beakface was out with the GP for her stretch water and food and she went back to the nest in the coop, not the Broody area. I screwed up I guess letting her all the way out but do I just stick her back in the Broody pen or do I wait till tonight?? Help!

Beakface may have been broken already. If she is sitting on eggs in the GP nest, wait until tonight and see how it goes.
Good Luck!
Last night I found 3 tiny Serama eggs in one of my succulent planters, so cute. Fried them up for my daughter.

Thanks! I will leave her be until tonight then try again.
Is she sitting in the old nest? If so she just does not recognise the new nest as home.
Yes, give them free choice calcium. The calcium will help with laying too--it helps them have the contractions to lay the egg as well as building the shell.I am thinking, since I have a squater, that I should offer some oyster shell? I will offer it free choice, since we have 2 16 weekers in with the other girls who are at POL.
Everyone is on Freedom Starter. I am not planning on switching to a layer for a few months.
