I would like to have a dark egg layer at some point but want a sweet girl too. She doesn't have to be a lap chicken but I really am not a big fan of a bird who has eaten from my hand yet still thinks I will kill her if given the opportunity. Any recommendations?

Those are beautiful! Did they start speckled with the darker spots and then turn solid dark? I have a Maran that just started laying and her eggs are speckled.

Mine too! They eat more than my English orps and they're huge!

Sometimes they will get darker.

Speckled is really nice though!
