Now Im headed Abbas way. I have my good friends Bachelor Party to go to in South Lake Tahoe

Tahoe is such an odd mix of "out in the sticks" and "party town. " have fun but be careful. There was a fatality on echo today. So sad .

Did you mention this because my bators are currently empty?!? Do you have bator sensors ?

Um... Glad I read this AFTER dinner!

on a related note....passing out treats while sitting on the back step...run out of treats and several girls disperse but suddenly I feel something I hadn't felt since high school...got a chicken wedgie courtesy of Della...told you her personality was back. She grabbed em to show her displeasure that the grapes were finished

Mario was bringing Clovis to his wimmenz today and he was humming. I told him to do the Mercedes Benz commercial and he started to sing and do a chicken dance! Poor Clovis wattles still swing when he holds his head still!

I should have videoed it perhaps tonight after Mexican food and a glass of wine...
I showed my husband the video and he wants a Mercedes! Haha

Now there is a girl that knows how to make a point!

Hi everyone. Been very busy the last few weeks.
I swapped my roosters in the Empordanesa , Crele Penedesenca pens.
Rocky and Whitey are gone.
I have 1 good crele in with the girls ( I just hatched a nice young one from a friend that also breeds Wallabies in Nevada) she says Wallabies and Penedesenca get along well together lol
He is going to breed next years hens and the crele in there now will get moved to the silver Ameraucana .

I put 2 new Empordanesa roosters in with the emp's and put the U of A's and other 2 Ameraucanas in there.

The Silver Ameraucana hens are in with Buster and the other Black Penedesenca  ( He is my Bouncer Chicken ) a real big guy

Ron I am still getting light brown eggs from 1 black penedesdenca but am also getting some pretty dark ones from someone.
One of the young Empordanesa I hatched lays a very very dark washed Terra Cotta egg too.

I am starting to work on a new grow out run and a new pen for the silver ameraucana x crele penedesenca olive egger project

I was thinking of you today as I was cementing posts for the new exterior fence for the chickens. When my husband and I were buying the posts at local store in Marysville, I was telling him that Jason on BYC said it should be 6'. I priced their 6' x100' non-climb and if my memory is correct the man told me $192.00. Much better than Tractor supply at $243.00 same size.

So I have a brooder set up but what does everyone do for that in-between stage? Like the stage where they're too big for the brooder but too small to go outside in the fall/winter? I was thinking a cage that's not very high but long and rectangular?

I have a hutch in the Garage and a brooder on the garage floor.

They can go out at 6 weeks old usually.

Let me check with her on the turkeys. I'm not sure if she is parting with them or not. I sure hope so because I would love to have one for Thanksgiving! We will be doing chickens the same day. What she is offering this time is $15 for the workshop and you can bring one of your own birds to process or $25 and you go home with one chicken processed & vacuum sealed. I would guess the November one would be the same but it might be a little bit more if it involves one of her turkeys. I'm headed out there this morning to decide which roos/cockerels are on death row for tomorrow. I'll check with her.

Thank you! Sometimes I miss the updates. Could you PM me on the info you find? A homegrown Thanksgiving Turkey would be like Christmas in November

I use the long/ deep rubbermaids and make a big cut out for one of those lamp metal cones. Keep it in the house with like 70/80w bulb. I'll have to look for it and maybe post a pic. My hubby did it and the metal lamp cone doesn't heat up the rubber. Like i said, not a high wattage and the temp stays nice. We ,and by we I mean my DH (that's how all my chicken and horse projects work

),put a screen on part of the top for ventilation too.
After they're too big, I have the hen house closed up with another lamp.
