Are they new layers? New layers or Hens coming off of molt will lay rubber eggs. IF not, collect some of that fresh morning poo and send it in for a test to see if there are worms in the flock.

They are 27 week old pullets. 3/6 are laying. I thought perhaps it was the third brown egg layers' first eggs? I wouldn't be able to see the worms? Where would I send the poo?

No, you do not often see worms in the poo.

It is common for the first couple of eggs to be wonky. The poo in the picture you posted look very healthy..

Call UCD up for the name and instructions for the test:

Hmmm. Do you take the suspect poo to like Davis or something?

Yeah, I'm just not sure it it/they are first eggs or not. 2/3 of the brown egg pullets are laying, so either it's #3's first egg/s or the other two aren't doing so well. :/

I have! I work on Campus so I drive over at lunch time. I took in a sample for Kim too.

The test cost me $10.50.

Was gone for two days house-sitting. A family member collected the eggs from the nest box. Went to check the coop this morning and clean the poo (yeah sorry about the poo) Two out of three brown egg laying pullets are actually laying. The family member I think may be refrigerating my wooden egg (lol) because it's not in the nesting box. So, this is what I found when I opened the "human" door of the coop this morning. We were only gone Tuesday night through late last night (Friday). The shells look super thin and maybe were rubbery at one point. I've no idea how long they were in there. They are in the living space of the coop sort of under one of the roost poles. Everyone that's laying does so in the nest box. It didn't really look like anyone munched on them.

I think my Della had a sleep over in your coop. Looks exactly like what I find

hey, I just found out our local feed store Sams downtown carries the meraks vaccine. That may be convenient enough I have to do it. Hrm, hrm, hrm....

I was thinking of you today as I was cementing posts for the new exterior fence for the chickens. When my husband and I were buying the posts at local store in Marysville, I was telling him that Jason on BYC said it should be 6'. I priced their 6' x100' non-climb and if my memory is correct the man told me $192.00. Much better than Tractor supply at $243.00 same size.
yes thats a good deal sometimes you can still get it that price and it may even be made in America. No climb is superior to anything period. 6 foot keeps most but the most streamlined birds from flying to the top.
U of A 's and Icelandics , Campines style of weight class may still but I clip a wing a time or two and that will usually curve that except with Icelandics as they write there own rules lol.

One of the Pita Pinta boys wanted to come out and play. He flew up to the side of the Hutch in the Garage, so I took him outside. He is 14 weeks old. They have changed so much!

wow he looks nice
Tahoe is such an odd mix of "out in the sticks" and "party town. " have fun but be careful. There was a fatality on echo today. So sad .

Did you mention this because my bators are currently empty?!? Do you have bator sensors ?
I saw where that was. I would of brought some but was in a giant hurry. I never ended up going to bed last night and got home at 10am today lol
