California - Northern

She can let me know, if that's what she would like to do.

I don't know if it was just my poor eyesight or not, but the lighting at that show seemed very dim. I was having a hard time seeing the birds well. Wherever they end up, I hope it has better lighting.
I noticed that when it was getting down to higher placements the birds were taken outside in natural light. I agree it was dark inside where the birds were caged. The area for the knowledge bowl, showmanship, etc. seemed to have more light.

WOOO! I got an egg dance today! My cream legbar at 20 weeks, 5 days. Hopefully I'll be posting first egg pics soon!

Found these 2 (conflicting?) links for the 2014 show(s), although the Norcal Poultry Association page for next years show is blank.  It gives 2 dates for the show...3/17/14 and 3/30/14.  Not sure if they are actually having 2 shows.  Both listTehama County Fairgrounds in Red Bluff as the venue.

They are in the process of rebuilding the website. I find the meeting minutes to be very helpful.

Hey y'all I'm up in trinity and I'm looking for some meat birds anybody got any?
If you can take eggs, I have breese and Just struttin has another renewable meat source. They will take longer then cornish but taste much better.

There was? I never heard a thing! Maybe I am not traveling in the right circles. Of course, I may just have not been paying attention. My husband had an aortic dissection in May and had to be
life-flighted to Sutter Memorial Hospital. He was very lucky to have made it just in time to save his life. He was home by May, but was still having some complications and was up and down with his health. I doubt I would have been able to go in May since I was still off work taking care of him. He has recovered now and is back to work. So maybe next year. Is there a list or something to sign up for that would send out info on shows in CA?
holy crap! Yes, that will prevent you from going to chickens :D.
I was also going to say Pam is probably gearing up. I bet soon we see here at night when she is jazzed up and cant sleep. We miss her!

HUZZAH! My new hens are all hiding their eggs, i'm debating a new nest box plan.

My silly husband locked the silkeis brodies out of the coop! The eggs we cold, but it could not have been more then 2 hrs. I finally went down to see what was up with all the ruckus, the moms were also separated from their chicks, it was like an evil prison camp down there keeping everyone apart!

I have to empty out all the kitchen counters today for next week, and clena the house for the cleaners. Not the most exciting day!

I couldn't find any mention of the 2014 show in the minutes. They have all the months listed but not all of them have the PDF files linked yet. I will be patient and just check back closer to the date.

Quote: We are planning to go as watchers. I didn't know about it and have sold everything available already. Next year I hope to be going! Trying to get my mom started, she fell in love with and brought home a Cream Brabanter (home to my house as she can't have him) cockerel. I think she'd get a kick out of helping some 4-Hrs get a really rare bird! Now all she needs are a couple pullets.

This is completely off topic.

We don't normally look for birds through hatcheries. However, Cream Brabanters are rare enough that my mom may have to resort to buying from Ideal poultry. So strange that they have them for $3.50 a chick and I've seen eggs for $6 each. I can't imagine they are a high quality bird. Perhaps I'm wrong. Anyone have experience they don't mind sharing? We don't want to do eggs as I'm setting my foot down on purchasing eggs outside of the western corridor. Shipping is just killing the embryos, it's far too disappointing to spend that much time and money for nothing.

I guess this leads to 2 real questions - anyone have feedback on Ideal? and specifically feedback regarding the quality of Cream Brabanters from Ideal?
