Ok, so my Marans are cruddy layers. But I'm thinking "is it just that the days are still short?"
I think this 60+ degree sunny weather keeps me forgetting how long the days really are. No ones in full swing yet right? These are 8 months old

Marans are not known as great layers. The thought is that they lay big dark eggs so it takes longer to produce them for the hens.

I do not completely agree. I think you could breed for production and get them laying more.

Are your Marans from a breeder or hatchery?

French Black Copper Marans lay less than Cuckoo Marans in General.

My understanding is you can't do certain things, have certain privileges (I posted an Ad with my website in it and can't do that unless I'm platinum feathers or something, which you have to pay to be.) interesting

A few of my marans hens lay every day, most lay every other day. My worst layers are my barnevelders,,they're driving me nuts

Did you get them from Linda Hammid? I hatched some from her and they are good layers.

@chiqita got a trio from me and a co worker has the other two pullets. They are laying 5 eggs a week each after their first molt.
