Would stopping the egg turning just 18 hours early be horrivle?
no they do not need to turn anymore.
If I had a choice, would set later though.

Me too Sandy. I got re-enthused.!!!!!I didn't see you at Stockton. I ended up buying chickens, as if I needed any. I will now have white eggs to add to all my colored ones.
I LOVE making cards & have done almost nothing else for the past year between the last 2 Christmases. I tend to be a bit on the compulsive side. I have been making cards again just recently to get ready for the vendor table at the Fresno show. I will be selling Chicken greeting cards, chicken jewelry & maybe a couple of other things, all to do with chickens.
If you are going maybe I will see you there.
. Anyway we were able to see all the birds and I purchased a Silkie to keep my last remaining Silkie company. My favorite little fuzzy butt succumbed to the heat. The new pullet was in the car and I didn't want to stress her out too much.. bad part is I missed seeing everyone! I'm going to try to make Fresno, but so far it isn't looking too promising! Hopefully I can make it to your place!I don't up the humidity until the evening of day 19. No need to do it early. Day 18 set up works the best. Can I put my eggs in lockdown a day or half a day early? I just wanna take the egg turners out and get it all set up this evening... Then up the humidity tomorrow. Would that be OK???
I thought so on the Silkies and Sizzles, but didn't recognize the Orpingtons. Those ought to be very pretty!Quote:
Thanks!! Pictures sure aren't my strong point.![]()
I have some Silkies, a couple of Frizzled Silkies, and 2 black Orphington "project" chicks (Papa brooder is doing a project with his Orphingtons, so the males should carry 1 black gene and one chocolate gene). The Orphingtons are so beefy compared to the Silkies.
I made a few for our roosters. Hade tomalley it wider than that to keep it from going up and down with the Movement needed for crowing. Also.... It makes it quieter but they still crow .Nice! Here is a pic of my boy Zoro notifying the neighborhood that he is here. He may not last long here in town. Roosters are legal in my town but there is a noise ordinance and I sure don't want upset neighbors. Plus, he is driving my DH crazy with his crowing. He has on a homemade rooster collar but it is not working. Maybe I just don't have it on tight enough. I took it off tonight and he has bare spots on his neck. It will probably be better for him to go to the farm.![]()
