California - Northern

I have a friend who is raising Jersey Giants.  She has been looking for some new pullets for her big boy and has been in touch with a breeder somewhere here in N CA.  I'll message her through FB and ask for the info.  We had one of her boys on the farm with my Langshans but I'm pretty sure that we processed him.  He looked almost identical to my black Langshans except for his clean legs and the yellow bottoms of his feet.  We've got some big boys out there on the farm!

Edited to add that my friend's roo is big and beautiful!  Maybe the henseminator could visit him and bring your girl some stuff! ;)

That would be fantastic. I lost her boyfriend a few months back to a huge bobcat and the chicks I have wont be ready for quite a while. Here's my girl. Shes a bit ruffled from having just come out of the nest box when I took this pic but when shes primped up shes flawless!

On roosters: i'm thinking of having a "rooster pen" and taking them out as needed. otherwise they tear up my hens. So far the Bresse boys are small (2 1/2 months) and my marans rooster is very docile. But will put them in their place. If I start now I figure I may be able to get them used to this situation. Any ideas? In my mind, it works perfectly

. Just not sure if they'll fight as the young ones grow.

@juststruttin - so sorry about your eggs. That is so weird that only 3 are doing well. It is a letdown when you order eggs and that happens.

Bresse will be big and mine were aggressive. If they are together now then that helps though. You will have to watch them.

I had to separate a Pita Pinta from a Basque Hen Rooster. It was more because the Basque boy developed a crop problem though.

Greetings :) I am raising Black Jersey Giants. No stock at this time, as Debi mentioned working on getting some new hens for our Roo. :) I have met some nice folks recently in CA with Giants, there is a nice lady in Guerneville (sp?) who has a hatch currently that sounds like it is mainly cockerels mostly Blues I believe. If you mate Blue to Black you will get some Blue and some Black, they are gorgeous either way! I have sent her a link to this thread and hopefully she will give a shout so you can connect. :)

That would be great. I'm hoping to find someone with a mature roo to breed this hen so I can get a clutch to hatch out this spring. Hopefully I can get something figured out lol.
