My sickly hen seems fine today...? I missed the feed store open hours yesterday so I haven't picked up any meds yet. I'm going to today. I went ahead and put Raw AVC in their water, cayenne pepper on their food, and fresh chopped garlic by the tons. She's acting normal...

BUT now my CLB Roo is acting JUST like she was yesterday...?? Tired, didn't want off the roost when I opened the gate. Ate a few bites of food but now he's just standing there in the sun puffed up and closing his eyes off and on. He's not even paying attention to his girls or anything else going on around him...

Did they maybe get a chill from all the rains? His crop wasn't empty. Yesterday he was fine.
I would treat them for cocci.

Edited to add how to treat:

Quote: They may have a bigger than normal load that they are fighting off.

ACV helps! It would also be a good idea to check them for mites by getting a very strong flashlight and checking their vents later in the evening.

If you see mites, treat for both of them.

Could you explain to me how ACV treats coccidiosis? I only know of two successful treatments for coccidiosis. One is Corid (Amprolium), and the others are Sulfa drugs such as Sulfadimethoxine, which is the safest of all sulfa drugs.

I did not say ACV treated coccidiosis, I said help as to explain why the pullet from yesterday seemed better.

I also have a huge quote for how the dosage was figured out.

Thanks for asking me to clear up any confusion from the last post.

I bet that over the last year I have posted this same post a lot of times. That is ok if it helps save someones chickens!

Lol. I came to say the same thing. Acv just helps in general not w/cocci. We have terrible cocci here so I pretreat chicks with both. Not at the same time.

Ok. I'm going to treat them for cocci today. Can I put the meds in the steal waterers?

What should I treat mites with if I find them? Does frontline plus treat mites and lice?

You can put Corid and Amprol (amprolium) in metal containers. Make fresh batch daily.
