My Valentine's Day hatch is done
big_smile.png

I ended up with 6/6 Golden Cuckoo Marans (3 pullets, 3 cockerels) 8/9 W/BW Ameraucanas and 1/2 bantam BLRW chicks.

How exciting.......maybe I do miss the thrill of hatching but am going to do a few small batches this year.

My 3 yr old granddaughter loves watching chicks but is always very concerned about where their mommy and daddy is. I get the 3rd degree from her every time I hatch chicks. Babies are supposed to be with their mommy and daddy, you know! Any answer that I give her is always followed by a "Why???" !

How cute....I know grand kids are the best. Coy who is 4 now but 2 when I was wildly hatching & 3 for the few last year was always so excited to watch the chicks in the brooders. He would stand on a chair for the longest time just to watch. Hatching was even more fun. I am so glad the Brinsea has a clear front door so you can see so much.

That is a great attitude!

Ron, Wendy lives really close to me & in fact used to be my neighbor right down the street . You passed her last home when you turned onto my street to come to the last chicken party here. Maybe you two can work out something for chicks at the party this year if she is willing to wait til then.
We set the date for May 18th....please mark your calendar. We hope to have a really nice turnout again.

I will go add the date to my calendar!

I have two incubators filled now. It is a good thing they are not for me!

Cocci-vac B is a preventative vaccine against 4 strains:

I've never vaccinated for coccidiosis, but have had healthy growth using Corid as a preventative in water versus medicated feed. Once chicks mature and have a well developed immune system, they do quite well.

Good deal.........loved having you & will again. Hope everyone brings swim suits & towels for the kids.

@sewandgrow i would have no way of getting to turlock. chiquitta and i were talking and she may just send me juvinilles.
and as for the temp in my bator it was like 80-82 ish but its because it dropped belpw zero lasy night which it hasnt done in quite a while.

how bad are humidity fluctuations during lockdown? they have hovered around 55% but have been as low as 45% and just now I successfully brought it up but to 70% Should I open up the incubator and take out some of the water soaked cotton pads I am using as humidifiers?
