Okay lets look at it this way. this is what all of the ones who died have done: get larthargic, stop eating/drinking,lay down and keep their eyes. losed then thry stop chirping. also some of them did the gasping for air thing iddk if the others did though
most are just running aroubd eating and drinking the temp in my brooder says 83 atm.![]()
Quote: Spraddle leg usually happens right at hatch, or within a day or so. (might not be severe enough at first to see it) Leg issues later on is usually a slipped hock, in which they need to be put down. I have never been successful fixing it, and end up putting them down later.
Yes that's what I thought. I get one almost every hatch. I even had onw that has a bum wing and could not stand. I have not been able to correct it either.
You should be able to figure out why they are having trouble hatching. I had three all of last year with Spradle leg. It may be time for a better incubator?Yes that's what I thought. shes almost never on BYC. Check her fb page.. PM me if it dosnt pop up under her ranch name. have not seen ehre there much either, but i bet she checks more.
we are the kings of california dorkings on this thread!
nik if you do a wanted ad on CL you may be able to find silkies, they are pretty common. You can take roosters right? I KNOW I have some good quality silkie roosters that could stand to be shown, and would be old enough to show this year. At least one splash boy. We are back to the question of how to get them to you, however! How far out in he middle of nowhere are you? and when are the actual shows you are going for?
Chiquita...what does that mean "kings of ca dorkings"? Who are you referring to? Sorry, but I don't know anything about them or who breeds them.
Karen had some but I think she downsized.I think we have 3 people here. Or 4? I can never remember. Capa, kathy, ron are breeding yours or hatching for everyone else? And who is the other one.... hrm...
Wendy must never read my posts. She was reading in Mother Earth News that Dorkings are good dual-purpose chickens but are endangered. So, her only criteria are: endangered Dorking, dual-purpose, clean legged. Color and comb type are unimportant.

It was bad enough that chiqita keeps calling me Capa, but now Ron is doing it, too?!If you can get some shipping eggs from Capa I will ship them for her.
