I've only done one hatch. I had 8 hatch and only heard cheeping from the eggs 2 times. Just my experience.

I hear you about the memory loss. My Grandma Sweetie did the same thing. She was not able to process short term memory into long term memory so she forgot that we were visiting her at the hospital when we went to lunch.

You do not have to see them do the death shake. Hang them up or put them into a cone. Dispatch with the method of choice and go away for 10 minutes. I set up a garbage bucket with a brick in the bottom and line with a plastic bag.
Ron, you changed subjects so abruptly! Took me a moment to realize that beloved grammas were not the topic of the second half of the post. Say what?! Really woke me up, though.

Hi! It's funny you guys are talking about feed store misinformation. Literally just last night I had to keep quiet listening to an employee telling customers that their EEs were pure bred and that they come from show quality parents....yeah, sure. And he told them that the EEs (pullets) will make great meat birds and egg color can change. What?! They had no idea they laid blue/green eggs...or that they could eat the eggs. It's so hard not to say "Really?" I was just peeking at what they had, but its amazing what supposed "chicken experts" are telling people.
