California - Northern

It held up well last year, but went dormant over the winter. I think if it can get a little head start it will hold up better. We had the rains a week or so back, but nothing since so I finally turned the sprinklers on this morning. We are definitely getting plenty of sun!

The problem was directly from gff. They have stopped selling until they figure it out. But im sure you actually know more about it then I do as you are talking to more breeders!

The thing im seeing most now is biebs dying off at 4-5 months. They seem dangerously suspetable to something at that point that looks like maraks...

i've got my one isbar roo, which i got from Miss Molly last year, who's near a year old and very healthy -- then two splash isbar pullets (one from the breeder in San Diego, one from Mary the Sherrif) are six and five months respectively and also seem to be doing just fine. there are three additional chicks that are about 6 weeks old now, two blues (one boy, one girl) and a splash (hopefully a girl) -- so far, so good!

I love that one with the light boy and spotted head! What breed is it?

all of the spotted ones (they almost look leopard print when they first hatch!) are silver campines -- they will grow up to have a white head and black-and-white barred body:

Beautiful birds! Interesting that the part that is plain now will have color later and the colored part will be white later.....

actually, none of them is plain now, the chicks are leopard print all over -- but the two-week-olds have started getting their dark wing feathers already, and that's covering up the spotted down underneath. this is what they look like when they first hatch:

from two weeks ago!

The funny thing here is since it is single variables (mind you multiple single variabals) its not hard for me to grasp. Complicated colors and lacing that interact with each other I can't find small building blocks to start with. But typing it for people over and over! Oh man.. So this frizzled one hook showgirl walks into the bar...
