Speaking of broody, I've got this hen that buries her eggs like she's preparing and then the other hen will step on and crush the collection. I think I'll be deprecating them two soon. By the way, the showgirls are doing super!

Huzzah for paris!

Can anyone recommend a (semi)local breeder or hatchery for Cornish Xs? We've decided to try our hand at meat birds and are looking for 12 or so. I don't have an incubator (yet

) so would need chicks. Also - any tips on raising or processing would be awesome!

I bought mine at Wilbur's in Chico. I don't know if they have any now though.

Got another Cream Legbar pullet egg today. also got a special surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at that!!!!!!

and another view Cream Legbar pullet eggs far left

Seriously though this is the biggest chicken egg I have ever seen!!!!!!!!

This is from our Silver Sussex hen. She has not laid in a couple of days and then this!!!! I hope shes ok!!

Wow! That one is huge! It looks taller than the one that came with my shippped meat bird eggs but maybe not as wide. I was pretty sure mine would be a double yolker too, but it wasn't. I set it with the other eggs and it started but was an early quitter. The embryo was about the size if a nickel

My sister-in-law adopted an acquaintance's flock of 8 birds because her landlord said no more chickens (boo).
One hen has consistently been laying double-yolked eggs.
Well, Easter morning she produced a triple-yolked one.
I got a text with the pic below.

She said the egg was not really larger than a double-yolker.
Cool.
