Ooooo, can't wait for pics! One of my Seramas finally decided to go broody. We gave 7 eggs on Monday night. :ya She doesn't bite, but sure is scary!
Haha I've got two broody Seramas and one broody EE. The Seramas are like twins in the same nest acting the same it's hilarious. The EE is a screechy girl. I just heard my daughter go outside and open the nest box and heard her from inside the house lol.

Turning has become a hot topic for some!

I was going to say that they are fine.

Shhh, do not tell anyone but I did not turn the Dorking and Del eggs for the first two days for the last hatch and it was one of the best yet! I was treating them like shipped eggs because they travel 40 miles to get to my place.
I had shipped eggs that didn't get turned for 4 days. I had zero leg problems. Their were a lot of saddle shaped air cells from shipping so the hatch rate was pretty low. But the well-shipped eggs did good. 10 out of 12 cuckoo Orpington eggs from @juststruttin hatched. All the others were in pretty bad shape and had 30% hatch (only 50% made it to lock down) . Still no leg problems

Chiqita had the correct answer--It is not having the eggs big end up in that hurts them--Embryo death on day 5 to 7. The Angle is what is critical, not the turning.

Leg problems are from temperatures too low or high during incubation
Genetics
Flock nutrition
smooth floor.

You did a good job with the bad air cell eggs. 25 to 50% is what you can expect from them.

Cool I also just set brown red ameraucana

I am not familiar with that color of AMs Jason. I will have to look it up. How is their egg color?

I rec'd the Bielefelder eggs in the mail today & have them resting in an egg carton point down. I didn't want to wait any longer so put the Silver Cuckoo Marans eggs going a couple of days ago & just filled the rest of the Brinsea 20 with my eggs. The Silver Cuckoos are beautiful birds but don't have the egg color the BCM have. I love crele birds so really like the look of the Bielefelders. I hope they are heat hardy. I hear the Basque are & they are crele colored & big right??????

The Basque are heat hardy because they came from a hot place. The Bielefelders came from a colder place so they may or may not be heat hardy.

They are very nice though. I can't wait to see how they do for you!

The Pyncheon eggs came today and are resting on the table, according to USPS they are waiting for pickup tomorrow.

I must have missed something about the correct angle. I haven't candled them yet to see how the air cells look. Is there a concen

Me too..........With my love for big birds my heat doesn't help. To bad I didn't fall in love with the Med. breeds.

Karen, you need some Golden Cuckoo Marans if you like the crele look.

That is why I like mine. I am working on egg color. One of my pullets lays a nice dark egg that has not lightened up over her laying cycle. Below are some of her eggs. I just hatched a couple pullets from her eggs to further my project.

Hope you have a good hatch!

I am excited because today my porcelain d'Anver hen who hasn't laid for almost a year has started laying! Now I can use my buff Columbian rooster with her because he carries porcelain. That will give me both colors and both are accepted colors for showing.
