Have a question about roost space.

I have roughly a 4 foot per side cube (more like 3'8"" inertnally) and thinking of putting 2 levels of 2"x4" (large side flat) across one side of the coop like in ladder like fashion. How far from the top and how far apart should these roosts be. I have the Dels, Buff Orps and will have CLB eventually in the coop.

I also am curious about the nesting box. I made one 17" deep front to back 14" tall at the front(13" at the back) and 29" wide. Should I divide it or should I just leave it large like that.

Ill have pictures of the coop mid construction tonight.

One more question about the Door hole how big should that be.

Some people use a community nest and leave the nest undivided. You would cover most of the length and leave the width of one standard nest entrance open at one end, It makes sort of a long, dark tunnell. This picture from WeekendHomestead, net is similar but have the entrance in the middle.

I agree. They're very rare, so I don't know if I'll be able to find one.

I found a Sicilian Buttercup from someone in Chico, but I never go down that way...Sigh. Anyone in Chico headed to Redding any time soon?

Wow! That was very lucky and very fast! I am nearChico (in Paradise) but not heading to Redding anytime soon. Maybe @Kaylish ........she is in Chico...

The roost should be higher than the nest box. You breeds should be able to get up, but big breeds need to be less than 2'. My Australorps do not like the height of the roosts in my coop. They likely need a ladder....

The door only needs to be as wide as the chickens. They are not too wide. My coop door is 18" and they go out of it two at a time.

If I have 2 boards across how far apart should the be horizontally

I've been shuffling around chickens a lot this year. I'm thinking I want to sell my 2 Buff Polish chicks that I got a couple months ago, I just don't feel attached to them at all. They're pretty, and nice chicks, but I want chickens that I'm attached to, you know?
