California - Northern

I can't tell you how many bags of King feed that I've purchased and never had anything wrong with it. I have purchased barley from King Feed that has had weevils in it. The feed store owner took the blame for having old bags. I used to feed mine Modesto Milling before switching to King Feed. I've thought about switching back but for now I'm happy with how my flock is doing on their current feed.

According to two store owners in my area, King expects them to accept large shipments, and when there are only a few people asking for it, it is not worth their cost they have to pass on to the consumer. Since Bar Ale and Modesto have a higher demand, they get the business. One of my obsessions is that feed must be fresh and stored in a clean, dry area. The quickest way for a store to lose my business is selling me old or mishandled/poorly stored feed. I had a guy try to blame the trucker once, and I told him,"Yes, but you accepted the shipment". If I make my birds sick due to rancid feed, I'm the one who's burdened with treating them. At that point, them passing the buck is still my problem, not theirs. That is why I travel 15 miles to get feed now instead of 2.

That's a good idea. I am always careful to clean produce. What annoys me are those cashiers touching the mouth end of bottles or milk cartons as they ring me up, or sick shelf stockers working in stores. All I know is this strain of cold is a nasty one and hope none of you get it. This is coming from one who has gone years without having a cold or flu.
we're using essential oils . Oregano is some great stuff! No one sick here. When my son started toget it, I put oils down him.
A little prayer and Oregano: works every time :)

I was using King Organic feeds for awhile until a big lump of moldy feed appeared midway through a bag I was using. That was likely the shipper/stocker and not the mill. Their organic Starter/ Grower was top notch, and I raised a few batches of chicks on it. A local feed store here carries some of it, but were not consistent. I've found Modesto Milling to be consistently good, but more palatable, compared to Bar Ale's product. I use layer pelllets and do not like waste. I also want to see a milling date on the feed tag.
I like Modesto milling as well. I drive to get it for I think $23.50 a bag. My birds really like it and the pellets give little waste.
I see tractor supply has some for $26-$27 now too.

We take epicor daily and use oregano oil when sick.

What exactly is epicor? I did a quick google, is it like a probiotic?
I did hear probiotics are also helpful in staying healthy, according to studies

It is a yeast by product from making Granola. It is like a pro biotic and is an immune booster.

It really does seem to work.

Where do you buy it? I may have to switch if I can get organic for that price!
