Quote: It was feather sexing! Now they know that it only works for some breeds.

This is an historic document from 1942. Some methods in it are only in the 80% accurate range so would not be good to use for selling chicks. It is fun to read though.

Ok, got the corid for my new chicks but now their poop looks normal. Could it have been from some sort of injuries in transit? I guess I should give the the corid anyway just in case, right?

I asked on the Broody thread but thought I'd ask here as well.
The quick question: what is the shortest amount of time that a (2nd time proven) broody needs to sit before accepting newly hatched chicks?
The long version: I have eggs in the bator so due to hatch Friday and Sunday plus a few that are about 4 days. I also have 5 broodies - 3 have eggs (on days 18, 12 and 4) and 2 have jumped on the bandwagon in the last 3 days -one 2nd time broody and one 1st timer. I think I'll give my 1st timer the few in the bator that are on day 4 since they're my mixes. I just can't decide if I should try and give my proven girl some Orps from Sundays hatch or get her some more eggs.

10 days iss my magic number. Sometimes 7 works. Sparkles would just steal the chicks no need to be broody. You usually know its ok if shes clucking to them and eating. Its like a pastafest once there is no one sitting on your bladder. I have taken to leaving the eggss for 12 hrs to a day so she thinks they are hatching.
