California - Northern

Is anyone else planning on going to the Red Bluff poultry show on Saturday? Thought I might be nice to meet some more of you wonderful people in person.

I will be there.
I will be showing ... New Hampshire large fowl.

Well there goes any chance I had of getting any points!

You need to leave them home some time, so I can have a chance.
Turns out we are going to Redding this weekend, if we can get down that way I'll have to walk through and drool some.

I would like to meet you. Thank you for offering to transport that cockerel. I should be picking him up today.
How you judges temember all the fine points on so many breeds makes my head hurt!
I know, I've watched judges and it's just mind boggling how much they must have to remember!

Excuse me while I brag a bit but my youngest son just finished Med School and is moving to Mississippi to become an Emergency Resident Physician with Ole Miss University Hospital.
You must be so proud. Congrats!

OK, today, i am the Debbie downer. in the last 24 hrs ( OK maybe 36) I have

Sadly, my mom's dog got into my "pet" flock's pen" and killed 17 chickens including Buddy, my bantam barred rock rooster. I have not posted anything about the attack until now because it has been too hard to talk about. Even now, I am shaking.
I'm sorry.

Not all judges remember the fine points, but they are supposed to look them up if they don't know. The APA Standard has 400 pagers of things to remember.

Our judges favorite SOP is from the 1920's I think. He will break it out with the kids and show them how he grades the birds. I just wish they would remember Mille isn't a breed, I get a couple of entries each year and have to play the 20 questions game over the phone.

I'd like to meet you too Kim, to bad I have no set plans yet.
My parents had a pond break and it washed down the road and under their house. The water took out a gate and the lower garden fence. Not sure how much DH and I will be able to get done and how long it will take. DH will be working quickly due to basketball, my motivation has feathers!

I am used to showing a lot of birds, this is going to be pretty easy. We show 30-50 birds at every show and we go to all of them in CA. If you looked at Indies at Modesto 99% entered where mine. They look even better in the sunlight.

I'll look for you and your birds - I'll be the one trying to take pictures while answering 1000 questions from the 3 year old.

If he is an ABA/APA judge he is supposed to break out the newest version. That is what is required of judges as there have been many changes to the Standard since 1920.

Happy to hear your CL program is in the growth stage.  Must feel good to be at the point of being able to focus on the finer points.  I know how much work it take sto get to that point.

Sadly,   my mom's dog got into my "pet" flock's pen" and killed 17 chickens including Buddy, my bantam barred rock rooster.   I have not posted anything about the attack until now because it has been too hard to talk about.  Even now, I am shaking.

I heard the screams and ran to the coop to find a sea of dead  (17) and injured (5) chickens   The dog was still in the pen and ran up to me with a huge proud grin on her face as if saying,  "look what I did".

It took all my willpower not to kill the dog.  Frankly,  I think I was in too much shock to do much.  Sadly I lost Buddy and his two Barred Rock girlfriends plus several other birds that were dear to me.

hugs. Thats gotta hurt.

Here is what we pulled out of the incubator this am. These pinkies are still showing up im gonna have to sstart tracking where they are coming from closer.
