California - Northern

Ok. Thanks. I may do that later this week when it gets cold and stormy. I am in the mountains so we will get cold.

Are all white leghorns stupid? Compared to my barred rocks, partridge rock.and production red they really seem to not get it.

My barred rocks either let me pick them up or if I herd them they get the idea and go in the others follow except my leghorns. My leghorns are dumb and will.just run in circles.
Just before dark I call my birds in they know I feed them a cup of feed in side the coop. They are so used of it they come in and jump in. So you can simple shut the door. Works for me.

Is the bottom golden colored one from the d'Anver eggs? If so, it looks like it could be a Mille Fleur.
I think from the possibilities (silkie, d'anvers, or serama) it's got to be a d'anvers. The chick came from a white egg, seramas wouldn't have a beard, & a silkie wouldn't have clean legs. I'm excited to watch it feather out.

So my local feed store will not take any more chickens due to the avian flu, so I put my extra cockerels on Craigslist, and someone took all of them! Same day it was awesome. Now I'm not being woken at dawn by a chorus of trumpets hahaha.

Got my first two New Hampshire chicks! They hatched in the night under a broody along side 3 chicks that are NH over my Chocolate Rock girl. I think the mixes are are all boys since they are black with a white head spot. But I haven't hatched any of them before so I don't know for sure. I have one more chick pipping under the broody so I hope that one hatches today while I am at work.
