We had a field trip to the Dunsmuir House in Oakland. They don't have any chickens there but they do have an old chicken coop! Then we made a quick trip to the farm to collect fertile Pita Pinta eggs. The plan is to take 7-8 Langshan pullets out there on Friday to meet my big blue boy!Too nice out to be online?I was rather surprised to have nothing to read on my break at work...![]()
ETA: Long simulpost with chiquita![]()
Hi all
So I have a hen with foxtail in her eye. I can't get it out and believe it's still in there.
My vet will look at her tomorrow for me.
He said he will use a numbing drop that ended in "Caine"
I know lidocaine in neospirin is not good. Has anyone used drops like that before?
She needs help but I don't think they can look at her eye without numbing it
Perhaps @ronott1 or @casportpony may have some advice ?
thank you RonI would hold her upside down until she calmed down and flush with saline. There is a vetricyn eye spray.
I hope her eye is ok!
Chickens do not tolerate pain killers or anesthesia.
so sorry to hear that. Hopefully you find out soon what it isI had my first predator loss in 7 years.
Yesterday I left home at 5 am and didn't get home until dark. When I went out to feed this evening I found one of my old ladies under the ramp to the pop door. Something had stripped her neck and most of the breast after trying to drag her under the coop.
Everyone will get locked up at night until the culprit is done in!
