What breeds? Debi (@PetRock) usually jumps in with a plug for Pita Pintas but they aren't an accepted show breed)
A lot of people on the people on this list are of similar opinion.

Good looking birds! I just rehomed this little guy yesterday to someone in Chico who was specifically looking for cockerels. He is about 8 weeks old.
Quote: Stockton doesn't get super cold in the winter so I would look for ones that are more heat tolerant. Lighter birds seem to fare better and the polish would certainly fit the bill, as would Ameraucanas, Easter Eggers. I am in Paradise and we get snow in winter and 100+ in the summer. I keep Ameraucanas, Black Copper Marans, Wyandottes, Olive Eggers and a few other breeds I can't think of right now and have had no temperature related problems with them.
They are adorable and fingers crossed for the ones due in 20 days!@Audio51 thank you I'm happy with it. Although I will use less eggs under her next time.
4 eggs were smothered/crushed while hatching and only one never broke out of the shell. 100 percent fertility tho. And my math was bad. 12 of 17. Bummer 3 that didn't make it were kelso but there are more 20 days out.![]()
Edited to add this afternoon pic

Awww.......so sorry for the loss.I'm sorry to tell you all that I lost my beautiful splash orpington hen, Willow, sometime between roost-check last night & 10am this morning. I found her on the floor of the coop under the roosts. The coop bedding was still warm underneath her. At first I thought she fell strangely & broke her neck in the fall but in checking her, I don't think so. She had shown no symptoms of any problems previously. I am totally at a loss.
Ron (@ronott1 ) was nice enough to provide me with the details of how to prepare/preserve her & where to drop her off at UC Davis. It was so simple & quick. I'll have results in 7-10 working days. I'm hoping it's unique to her as I have a coop full of littles that I hope to find new homes for.
The good news, though, is that I found 2 new peepers hatched in the incubator (OEGBs, crele x fawn). So tiny! One more egg to go due on Friday...It is so hard to lose them at all but even worse when it is totally unexpected. I hope they are able to figure out what happened....![]()
