I have hatched eggs from Joe's Market in Oakland twice and have more in my incubator now. They are beautiful white chicks and some have a black dot or three. Someone who bought some from me this time or year last year, was in, and said they are really nice birds and lay lot of large eggs. Kern

Yes! Very large eggs and nice birds. One of mine likes to wander though. She was around the corner visiting the neighbor. The thought she was cute--pecking at their back window looking for treats.
As far as I know, the one I hatched from Farmer Joe's is a classic leghorn (was a white chick with black dots, is now a smallish white bird with a VERY upright tail and a huge, floppy comb). She's super skittish, but she's quite hilarious to watch as she explores absolutely everything. She's the only survivor of the three my Orp hatched. They were particularly stupid chicks compared to the Orps and Wyandottes.
White with black dots--she is a cross between a hyline brown and a hyline leghorn then. They are similar to austra whites. regular leghorns do not have black spots on them.

A couple of my cockerels have red on their wings.

Yes!

Pullets were hyline brown and the cock bird was a hyline leghorn.

Trader joes is the opposite. Whole foods is the same. The eggs I hatched this year were half white and half brown but the chicks are the same.

I hatche 32 of them from 45 eggs. I have to count the pullets again but I think I have 17 of them.

I started my hatch today. I got my incubator last night. Picked out my eggs. It will sure be an interesting barnyard mix up. If I get any to hatch. The only pullets I know have been bred are the two that are missing their feathers on the back of their head. He likes to grab them there. Is that normal?

Had a mishap with my Incubator. Somewhere over night I think the power to it was interrupted. (cord loose or something) it never alarmed even when turned on but it had gone cold. (im hoping at day 15 they can recover) I reset things and its going again and warm. We shall wait and see Ill candle again in a couple of days and really look for movement before I lock them down (which was supposed to be tomorrow.

I need a serious incubator.

i am not to impress with this one I just bought. the latch on the door seems very flimsy. The egg turner which cost 40 some odd dollars in addition to the unit is very flimsy looking. I guess you get what you pay for.
I just thought the small Brinsea was so much for only holding 8 eggs.

I am waiting delivery on my Dickey cabinet incubator, was shipped out Friday. I had to pull from savings but figured it would be worth it with the number of eggs I want to hatch. That is what I call a birthday present to myself.

Let us know how it works for you!
