California - Northern

Hi any one have Dorkings for sale in in Marysville.
That's not a common breed to find from a private breeder. Sounds like a breed you may only find thru a hatchery like Cackle Hatchery, etc. I've never heard of any feed stores carrying rare breeds either ~ mostly just layer or production breeds.

Check this BYC thread which might help w/ breeders lists/references. There's a Dorking Club website & a Dorking group on Facebook. Good luck:

Hi! Check in with this local breeder in Pollock Pines. Ask if they plan on having Dorkings. I got 4 bantam cochins and they are the sweetest/healthiest little things. They were great at communicating and returned my messages. Good luck! https://foxandhenpoultry.com/order-now

Oh! And follow them on Instagram, it gets updated with the breeds they have available.

Has anyone here ever done business with California ostrich valley farms? I've been trying to find some local coturnix quail chicks! If anyone knows a good place that sells chicks please let me know 😁
I haven’t done business with them personally, but I’ve seen them at the Poultry Expo as a vendor and they are a legit business that sold a LOT of quail last year. There is a NorCal Quail Facebook page that isn’t as active as it used to be, but you can find quail people there as well!

How far north in CA are you? I'm in southern OR, about 25 miles from the border. I raise coturnix quail, though they've just started laying for the year.

Before I started hatching my own that is where I got my day old chicks from. Very nice folks. They raise a lot of them and they were very thrifty chicks. I believe they usually have them available on Fridays but that may change throughout the year. They said they have them year round when I got my last set from them.

The line between Northern and Southern California can be found on highway 99. You have to pay attention to the median, as there is where you will see an Oak tree in front of a Palm tree (going South, going North it's the Palm tree first). You might be able to find it on Google Earth
