California - Northern

Brian, i can't help with the chicken sitting but i love the chicken shelves!

I'm in Sacramento, new to the boards, i'm the one with the surprise Rooster that needs a new home. I'm so glad i found this forum and this board. it'll be nice to be able to learn from all you experienced chicken wranglers.

Hello,
Funny, I missed the whole north south central debate and I'm too lazy to read through all the early posts ad learn the definitive answer. I live in Rocklin after 10 grueling years in Fresno. Fresno is central and Rocklin is northern. I raised my girls in Grass Valley and that is northern. I was born in San Francisco and raised in the bay area and that is also northern.
I think the Grapevine to Stockton (ish) is central, anything below Grapevine is southern, and north of Stockton is northern. I know SF is further south than Stockton but the bay area is still northern CA, regardless

Are there any group activities for northern CA?

My chickens are +3 months old and I would never have believed I could love a chicken but I do <3 They are big and fat and happy and I love spoiling them. They are getting their combs and starting to sit (instead of run) when I reach for them so hopefully that means I will have eggs sooner than later. My brood: 2 Buff Orpingtons (Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe), 2 Rhode Island Reds (Ginger Rogers and Rita Hayworth) and 2 Black (Silver?) Lace (Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren)

Nice pics! Yep I completely agree on your discription of the California boundary lines. I will add that all of the Bay Area, even down to Gilroy is considered Northern CA. I know, I know, if you look on the map it looks awfully central but that's how it's divided up and it's been that way since before I was born so I don't argue the point. I also love your chicken names! A lot of folks on here do the classic Hollywood theme for naming chickens and I think it's so cute!

I know I am coming late to the North/South thing, but I always considered Northern Cali to be north of SF. I'm in Eureka, and we hate to have SF included- some of us here even think Northern Cal should be north of Ukiah!

I've heard this a lot from Northern Californians but the boundary lines were established long before we came along and we are not likely to change it just because we disagree. It does make me curious though as to how these "lines" were drawn in the first place.

My brother lives in Eureka and I visit whenever I can... never heard folks say they "hated" SF being included in Nor Cal.

Congrats Jeremy on the new babies! I have FBCMs hatching now too but only one is all the way out so far. Got my fingers crossed that they all make it!!!
