I'm glad I didn't lose power last night, my hatch is started (not to mention two more incubators of eggs still cooking).  Out so far, three seramas (including one out of an egg so small it looked like a quail egg), a blue silkie and a blue showgirl.    Several more pips, they were actually due today, so lots of time yet.


Hope everyone is making it through the rain/wind without too much damage (sorry about the hoop coops).

My Polish roost....and they go broody...and are fantastic layers...but I breed them so that makes a difference. And they're standard size, I don't know if that makes a difference. My newest layer is knock down gorgeous and her first eggs are as big as her moms. I actually have more in my egg laying coop that don't roost...none in the Polish coop, and they're SO friendly.

Nice coops Mike! congrats. Instead of the current roosts I would install a ladder type situation with 2x4s running across. If I'm seeing it correctly the roost is a 2x2 or so. I've found that the 2x4 keeps there feet in a better flat situation. And much higher... or you'll find them trying to perch in the rafters!!

Hi All

The thread goes very fast! 11 pages yesterday. I am going to try posting a digest each day to help.

Here goes:

A lot of us were sorry about MonsterClucker losing his Hoop Coops. MonsterClucker told us he moved the Chickens into his new coops. Pet Rock found a coop for Monster Clucker in Red Bluff! MonsterClucker said that was 15 min. from his house!(he drives faster than me...). We are still waiting to hear if he bought the coop.

Americangame got a lot of help with incubating tips.

Zooweemama was waiting for her Ducklings. They turned up at the Postoffice, but Postal workers think Ducklings are chicks. The Ducklings finally made it! Monster seems to not like frogs, so he wants some Ducks now for frog control?

It rained Buckets yesterday! Some lost power for several hours too!

Debs_flock has new Ducks Too! They are older and no one wants to steal them because we have not seen a picture? Maybe there was one yesterday.

Chiquita had an emergency and moved some of her chickens into the house. Luckily Her DH is understanding.

OEGBs are Old English Game Bantams! Silkies steal chicks! and are jealous of Eco Glows! They cut chickens combs off?

Wishing4wings has very nice eggs! Great Picture!

Zooweemama is getting chickens for a frend. CapayvalleyChick is helping.

The Sun came out and we all went outside! Didn't last Long.

BYC has been updated and now Mobile users can post using their default browsers. Zooweemama promised to post a lot more pictures.

Feathersprings had lunch at the beach(Jealous).

OR4-hmom has Quail OEGBs! Waiting for a picture.

Cooper12 does not see his chickens in the daylight during the week.

Posts ended with more concerns about weather and power going out and BigDaddysMom has wonderful Polish chickens!

good idea... Yes I keep a head lamp in the garage so I can make sure all are accounted for.
I am not getting eggs from anyone.

It could be that I seperated the crele into one coop and run. In the rain I finished my other covered area for the remainder of the icelandic's , white emp hens , my ameraucana hen and the 3 partridge penedesenca. I threw in a free big rooster A friend of mine had up the road. He is the bar bouncer version of a chicken.
so alot of change and no eggs. " no hawk damage this week either in the semi covered run. though all the oak leaves on it is scaring me some.

I miss my chickens...being in Cabo is wonderful, don't get me wrong but until I get chickens here I won't be happy. Have spent the week in cooking classes learning from the local chefs here. It's been wonderful and they are all VERY interested in (my name) Cabo Bresse in addition to eggs - they just don't have access to fresh delicious eggs! Additionally we have been meeting with different land owners to see if there is a fit! Very fun, but I miss Oprah, Lucy, Barbara not to mention looking at my breeders. The jubilees apparently have started laying again and the lav marans babies are getting fat! I got 2 more Lavender Marans hens just before I left, they were smaller than the ones I raised i suppose because they were in a pen with many birds. Hope they have started to fatten up by the time I return!

we are waiting on the appraisal results. Our lender was supposed to get back this last week. It was done and they said they sent it.
so we are waiting on that to se if it can move ahead for Fha .

our close date is to be the 15th ( so really 17th) which is a Monday.

new issue. the house is scheduled to foreclose on the 12th

so even know there realtor is hopefully working on that part of it they are not familiar with shortsale / forecloser process.
we will probably not know until then for sure what happens which is tough for us giving notice here.

Note to people thinking about selling and even buying one. Make sure the realtor is familiar with them. Ours is great theres well.

I have a head lamp too! I got 2 eggs yesterday. I am waiting for the rain to stop. It is supposed to end at 10 this morning. A lot is moving past now though. After it stops, I get to go clean a gutter out. I will try not to fall....

Note to people thinking about selling and even buying one. Make sure the realtor is familiar with them. Ours is great theres well.

Our house was a Vet repo. The realtor did know what she was doing back in 1999. She under cut her percentage, which upped our bid price, so we won the bid!

Of course it was an as is sale, so you might want to make sure there are on big structural problems with the new house.
