I hatched these from Trisha's eggs...thanks again Trisha!
Molly they are pretty !!!

Boy am I tired. Tomorrow is the big move day but I did take a few loads today but the main goal of today was the 2 breeder pens for the Crele's and the Emp's.
I put up 18 more 5" x 8 ft peeler cores and used 36 bags of 50 lb cement today. I still need to turn the coop more north and level the coop and add the No climb fence and poultry netting on top.
This will happen tomorrow if the concrete cures enough after I move all the heavy stuff into the house.
Here is the first run.

We decided on a name since we are also going into the Blueberry Business.

Hangtown Farms ( since Placerville was once called Hangtown )

Good evening everybody. I am looking for an NJG roo if anybody has one they would like to send off
to a good home. We had a breeder dump some chicks on us at the beginning of winter and five of the eleven survived and are all hens. Now I need a roo to get the count up in spring.

I am in Hornbrook area just south of the Or border by six miles or so and depending on the location I am happy to drive to pick it up or fly out if it is over 50 mile or so.

You can send me a pm if you have or hear of one.

Thanks
Someone up here ordered some last year. Haven't seen any posts for him in a while but I'll PM if you would like. This birds came from Ideal hatchery.

Know that there is a good chance of breaking her broodie if you move her. As Deb said, do it at night and somewhere you can lock her in for a few days so she won't try to go back to the place she chose. I moved my broodie over a foot because a rotten egg exploded and made a mess. I mixed clean shaving in with her original nest that wasn't too soiled and moved the eggs. What was pipped and peeping loudly. I came back a few hours later and she was back where she started and only took a few eggs with her...the pipping one was not one of the chosen and it got cold and died.  Picky little things! Remember, people move broodie's to break their broodiness.
#2 I was surprised to hear she'd plucked her belly clean already. Mine plucked herself right before "lockdown", I felt to increase humidity.

I had not considered a "lockdown" for a broody hen.  When would you do this?

You don't do it, they take care of everything. I just noticed they plucked thier bellies about the time you would put incubated eggs into lock down. I couldn't believe how much more moist it was under thier bare bellies then it was before that.

Today while at the doctors office, I was changing into a examination shirt and realized I had a egg in my pocket. WHO DOES THAT! I very very careful to get it home in One piece...after all it was a isbar egg...

I found an egg in my purse once. I was at back to school night and another parent asked me for a spare pen so I reached into my purse and started laughing as I pulled out an egg. Earlier in the day an egg carton had tipped over. I searched the car for a missing egg and could not find it. Stumped but in a hurry I decided to look for it later and forgot. I guess it had fallen into my purse and I carried it around all day without breaking it. Good thing.

My sneaky rooster decided that he wanted to walk around the forest today. We put the chickens in the barn within the garden fence at the end of the growing season, and so far, none of the hens have figured out that they can fly over the 4 ft fence! I give you Ramone! He's so handsome. And big! Whoa!
Thank you! It's an illusion of the photo I think. They were running around with the two month old FBCM's today and are practically the same size (at five months).
Lol really? The Marans are a good size!

Nice name! I like it! Great work. I'm tired just looking at it!

Reaching under Betty was surprisingly quite warm!
