California - Northern

I have 3 chicks this morning, today is day 21.

Today is day 21 up until 10 tonight so we will see with mine. I have a third pip and the first pip is getting bigger. It would be nice to get more--they developed so nicely too!

Congrats! So exciting!
Thank you it's my first hatch!

If the eggs don't hatch today, how long should I leave them in there? Mama is showing no signs of wanting to leave the nest.

Quote: on day 22 or 23, check them. Look for pips, smell them, gently tap them and listen for peeps. If you see signs of life, put it back.

You can also candle them and there is a float test. Do not float test them if you see a pip.

You will be able to tell if they are ok.

Also, most hatches are over 24 hours after the first one hatches. This is not true if you are hatching breeds like Marans along with EEs. Marans are often 22 day hatchers. EEs are often day 20 hatchers. They are not good ones to hatch together.

2 hatched yesterday; one hatched last night/early this morning. I don't see any pips or hear any peeping, but the one that just hatched I didn't hear any peeping either lol.

Thank you all for the nice comments and prayers for my sister! It is slow going right now with lots of pain and nausea. She was hoping to come home today but I'm sure that they won't release her until she is able to eat and keep it down without meds. My prayers are with you, Miss Molly! The waiting and not knowing is hard.

Prayers for both your sister and Molly. I wonder if cannabis might help your sister? Her situation is a case where the medical application could truly be of use.
