And I won't bore you with a lot of personal stuff but my husband has had some heart issues lately and earlier this week he was in the hospital with it. So I've been really preoccupied physically and mentally. The weekend was just busy and then this all happened. I will try to keep up now though. Everything seems to be ok for now.

Well, we can offer more than poultry support. Husbands are important too! We will be keeping you in our thoughts and hoping the worst is over.

Candy, thank you so much for the advice. They have had a chronic case of diarrhea for weeks now, and that was my first concern. Now this minor respiratory issue has shown up in my EE. There is no discharge from her eyes or nose, throat is clear, eating fine, laying ok, good energy and color like all the others. The best I can describe it is that she sounds wet inside, making the occasional little juicy hiccup or snort.

The coop is completely open around the top under the roof, so ventilation is good, but I have plans to change to a different litter method. I have been using sand under the roosts, which was working fine until the runny poop started, and now it is too wet, so I am removing it and putting in pine shavings. The rest of the coop is dry.

I'm also concerned about the 2 little Serama chicks that we just got for my younger son (thanks to Deb for helping us in selecting). They're inside and doing great, but I'm worried about passing something to them; they're so tiny!

I think the Denagard sounds good. It says no withdrawl time for eggs!!? That's great. Do you get the solution? I have an aversion to using antibiotics, but have tried everything else I can think of. Sure like to solve this problem before it gets worse.

This sounds like something I should get and use as a preventative. Chickens and humans! Thanks so much for the info!

What do you think about treating with no discharge visible, but definitely some extra moisture in sinuses and throat? Also, should I treat everyone? Most have the diarrhea to varying degrees.

I would to be on the safe side. Denegard is also used as a preventative for Mycoplasma. You would treat everyone. It goes in their water. One cap full (off of the bottle) per gallon of water for adult chickens. Make it up fresh each day and treat them for 5 days. Repeat in 3-4 weeks for another 5 days.

The calibration stuff is so overwhelming! I'm going to have my DH read it and figure it out when my incubator comes, haha. Just kidding, I'll get it down.

I brought a dying chick home from the feed store today. It is a day old bantam of some sort and I found it lying on its back getting trampled, but still peeping. I have it in a bandanna around my neck right now. It drank some Save-A-Chick water, first from my finger and then on its own. Yay! I am going to soft boil an egg right now and see if it will take some of the yolk. If it survives I'll go back and get it a little friend. Any other tips of bring back a baby? I think it's a fighter

Congratulations on the new cat! I hope all goes well with her.

Thanks, Ron. She was already fixed, unfortunately she was both Feral and FIV positive. So I told my vet to put her to sleep. I had a kitty who died of FIV and it isn't a pleasant way to go. Back to chicken concerns now..

Is poultry dust similar to using wood ash to treat mites and such?

that whole getting chased by a Rooster thing really scares me about Roosters......

When are the baby vitamin drops used? Every day?
