Online, either Jeffers Livestock(not pet) or Amazon.com for Denegard
Poultry dust kills the mites with poison. DE and other stuff will prevent them. If they have mites or lice you have to use poison. Many have tried getting rid of them other ways but it just does not work.
Roosters are really not that scary. They get a bad rap because of something we can't discuss here. Similar to Rottweiler dogs.
Baby Vitamin drops without iron, are used for chicks that have a vitamin deficiency--Wry neck or paralysis caused by B2 deficiency.
Don't be afraid of roosters. Although I have to rehome my buddy Gary because he bombs me - I am not afraid of him. Actually I adore roosters. Wish they could lay eggs. I've had more roosters than hens so far and I can tell you out of alllll those roosters- only 2 have been annoying. The rest sweet as pie. Watching them is fascinating and the good ones are amazing to their ladies. Sweet to watch. I also have a wonderful rooster. He has huge pointy spurs. He is very sweet with us and even more amazing to his hens. And he is a bantam and is 1/3 of the size of most of the hens.Awwwwww..... that is so cute! Poor thing.
Is there a good place to get the Denegard?
Is poultry dust similar to using wood ash to treat mites and such?
that whole getting chased by a Rooster thing really scares me about Roosters......
When are the baby vitamin drops used? Every day?
Awwwww.....what a sweetie!
My handsome FBCM roo went after me again today. I don't know why ME all the time. Geez. I am 5 7 so not tiny or anything. Because of this issue- it makes me nervous when my 4 yo runs around outside.
I'm also concerned about the 2 little Serama chicks that we just got for my younger son (thanks to Deb for helping us in selecting). They're inside and doing great, but I'm worried about passing something to them; they're so tiny!
I got my denegard at QC Supply. It is $44.95 a bottle but it lasts a long time.Awwwwww..... that is so cute! Poor thing.

Congratulations on the new cat! I hope all goes well with her.
Sometimes I forget to mention things. you need to make sure you get Oregano Oil that is for internal use. Some of the aroma therapy kinds have mineral oil in them and is not for internal use.
Something like this:

SG Dorkings are really nice. The Roosters look like Black and Silver Princes and the Hens have very pretty coloring and lacing. I love that the Hens look so different from the Roos.
CapayValleyChick should have plenty of culls this year!
And I won't bore you with a lot of personal stuff but my husband has had some heart issues lately and earlier this week he was in the hospital with it. So I've been really preoccupied physically and mentally. The weekend was just busy and then this all happened. I will try to keep up now though. Everything seems to be ok for now.![]()
Amy, so sorry to hear about your husband's health issues. I'm glad that he is doing better. And don't worry about boring us with life details. We are here to support you even if it is only to listen and pray. We all have more in common than just chickens! And I won't bore you with a lot of personal stuff but my husband has had some heart issues lately and earlier this week he was in the hospital with it. 6 hens...Nearly every day my Red Stars and My Australorps each lay. One of my Delawares lays about 5 eggs a week...the wonky egg layer lays 3ish usable ones. I have noticed that the unusable ones are nearly all on the poo tray like she didn't even know she she was laying them and that she sometimes seems to lay two weirdies at once. Three days ago there was a leather shell, a walnut sized leather shell with a tail and a desecated strip of what I think dried membrane would look like all right together under the roost. The next day she layed a normal egg. Yesterday she didn't lay. This morning there were two beautiful brown eggs but pullet sized and with brittle broken shells right next to each other. At first I thought two birds were responsible but when I got home today there were 5 good eggs in the nest box. So today's total was 7 for 6! A similar thing happened about a month ago but the two "eggs" were both leather shelled. Weird!
