It is not treated with anti biotics so if the Denegard helped it would not be black mold. The Oxyne may have killed it if it was mold in the lungs. It is really hard to figure this stuff out without testing.

I live in Woodland and work in Davis. What are you looking for and how old?

I am hatching Marans mixes with Olive Eggers this week but have some Crele Penedesencas and Cream Legbar Crosses that are old enough to go outside. I also have some Dorking Crosses that are near POL.

I would love to add one or two girls to my flock, preferably if they are close to laying. I have tan/pinkish eggs and light green. Would love to add a new hue to the egg basket. Either way I'd love to meet a fellow chicken farmer who has more knowledge and experience than I've gained in my year with chickens. My email is [email protected]

The babies are so cute! Wow four! Is that rare?

I don't know. I tried looking it up and all that I could find was that multiples are common. I think quads might be unusual but do happen from time to time with Hair sheep. Another breeder told me that it's unusual for a young ewe to have multiples at the rate this one is producing.

I've used the blacklights before - they work just fine as heat lamps.

Thanks for this info! My son gave me a heat lamp set up that he used for his reptile. The bulb is purple and looks like a black light. I didn't know if it was ok to use with chicks. I'm going through a lot of red bulbs, so wanted to try the purple one.

I haven't heard him sneeze since mid-day and the only way I can hear a tiny bit of gurgling/crackling noise is if I hold him up to my ear.

I hope that he recovers completely. You have had so much stress in your life recently. I wish you some peace.

The gargling/crackling noise was a little louder this morning than last night so I gave my OE chick another oxine treatment. He seems to love the humidifier. He sits right by the door to the kennel and chills while it runs. I'm leaning towards it being a mold problem since the treatments seem to help and it got a little worse after 10 hours without a treatment. It's all a stab in the dark but at least he doesn't seem to be going downhill fast. He is a lonely little guy, though.

On a good note, last night was day 10 for the chicken eggs that chiqita gave me. It is my first hatching in my new incubator! Monet and I candled them and 9 are developing. One was just a blood ring so we pulled it out. Grow, chickies, grow!!!

I was looking at my Blue Egg Layer from the UofA this morning and I picked out two pullets and on Cockerel for the Blue ones. The White Splash ones look like pullets so far.

They have very interesting combs. I will try to get pictures tonight. I will need a helper with them....They really think I am going to kill them when I pick them up. Good thing they are so little.
