California - Northern

Thanks so much, Deb! It looks like a little over two hour drive, so I don't know if we'll be able to do that very soon, but maybe we could come and pick up the eggs at the end of April and get one then, if you still have them! Although I wonder if a boy would be picked on, we'll have a few other roos. Haha maybe Clementine would get her wish and have a "room chicken" that sleeps on her bed. Wonder how hard it is to make chicken diapers...

maybe we could make a road trip of it sometime! -- as Deerling and i discovered this weekend that we are neighbors, I think i probably drive past your house every day going to & from school. we'll have to team up on All Things Chicklet!

and random news -- a long time ago i shared this polaroid of my then-new kitten (now a rambunctious half-grown cat):

i learned very unexpectedly today that a print of this, plus the original, will be on exhibit in LA next weekend -- and by a funny coincidence, *I* will be in LA next week for a conference -- was planning on only staying wed & thurs (my talk is on wed), as i have a class back in Sonoma on friday morning -- but once i saw this, i called the airline & changed my flight home to saturday -- so i'll get to be there for the reception, by total chance!

just need to line up chicken-sitters (thankfully two of my immediate neighbors also have flocks) -- it was hilarious watching Eleanor the broody this afternoon, she's still very friendly/docile with me, will eat treats out of my hand and doesn't grown very much -- but she's a BEAST toward the other chickens, or any unlucky cat that gets too near. and only stays away from the nest for about 10 min or so -- such a professional, even at her young age!

thanks! and she really is awesome -- just kind of coos when i come around, but looks like a young rooster fighting for domination toward any other chickens, neck ruff all fluffed up and feathers huge and menacing, bouncing up and down. several quite literally RAN away. i have no worries that whatever chicks result from this hatch will be well-looked after!

and Jordan, i think my next-door neighbors can handle the chicken-sitting (they owe me from a few weeks ago), but if not I'll let you know!
thanks!!

I am pleased that everyone likes their chicks

Did you find some Silver Duckwing Ameraucanas?

That must have been scary and a big worry to loose your dogs. Glad someone was kind enough to take them in and you got them back safely.
I did find Silvers and am told they will work great for My Crele pea combed Olive eggers so I am happy. Just need to wait a few weeks to order some. I am in Easter egger and olive egger heaven lol.. Yes we are so happy the dogs are back. They are old and Freda probably is in her last year. I just want them to be home where they belong when they do finally go.

One of my own Easter Egger pullets. I am keeping this one. I simply adore her gorgeous Buff coloring and face muff!
she is so cute
A transformer failed in my neighborhood today. I had to come home an plug in the battery backup--The Brinsea water weasel toy said 90 degrees so the eggs should be ok. The week old reds did not even huddle.

Thank goodness for battery backups!
