If chickens can find an opening into something, yes, they will poop in it!

I'm getting ready to convert all my runs to chicken nipple waterers. Just haven't decided if I want to go with gravity fed holding tanks with float valves or a pressure reducer on a dedicated water line.

Hmm , harder to clean but less poopy or easier to clean and full of poopy! Ahhh. Or I can look into what you're getting. so many options!

Trader Joe's eggs are white leghorns. I hatched mine for the 2011 NYD's Hatch-a-long; the roo was gorgeous and he died in some sort of fight on a day I was not home, but TJ was over a year old at that time. Good roo, too. The three Josies are wonderful layers although I gave two of them away when I used hens as incentive package when re-homing roosters. But MY Josie is alive and laying now.

I did it as an eggsperiment, and if you want big white eggs for cooking, hatch yourself some big, white TJ's eggs! :D

There is a long standing thing with Ameraucana folks and well most other Blue Egg layers. The Cream Legbar does not fall into either category--It was actually a Breed before either--still some want to call them EEs. Chiqita must have crossed a Cream Legbar with one of her Easter Eggers - CL/EE.

By the way that sounds like a beautiful cross!

Pictures please....

Oh Oh! Der. I got it. Molly has just introduced me to CL's and is currently almost succeeding in getting me to come home with one + one of her Cochins and maybe one of her Marans. Our nine girls aren't even out of the brooder/playpen yet and the Hubs is wanting to build a second coop! And our current shiny new one is only 4'x4' and we are pushing it with 2 roosting poles and 9 chickens. Chicken math and all these dealers on BYC are going to get me into trouble!

Yes, x2 I want to see the CL/EE too!

Anyone know of a breeder of gold laced orpingtons in the surrounding area? Or even not? I'm looking for hatching eggs and have not had much luck. The breeder I am trying to get them from has been having fertility problems

Hi Chickengirl, There are couple of GLO breeders on Imported English Orpington thread. I saw photos of some, and they are lovely. I think if you get on that thread, you might have pretty good chance of finding a GLO breeder.
Good luck to you!

Jason(HangTown Farms) should be very happy!

Only one blue Egg layer of the UofArkansas has hatched!

I am about to see if I need to peal mine out of the shell...

My family would say " this is the house where we try knew things".

They had another auto waterer that looked basically the same only it didn't have a lid or a blocked front like this one does. It was just open. Wouldn't they poop all up in it though? Or maybe the sides are so thin they would be uncomfy for their little toesies.
I have those, adn I get little poop in them. NO idea why, it should be poop city. They are a bit of a hassle to clean, however

I'll try and get some this weekend, all that is left are boys. They look like cream legbar with puffy cheeks and green legs ( thank god for the green legs!!) or just green legs. But they follow the color pattern when they grow, so if they have gray on the top and salmon breasts they are girls. Or, I hope they do.....
None of the boys have the spot, however.

I could call them almost amelias!

Quote: Sorry jason! I will go back and fix that post!

You have 5 out and when I candled, I saw an egg with a beak in the air cell! You may get 6. I only have 1 of the Blue Egg Layers and it hatched a bit ago. I also have 3 Bantams. I do not want them. Oh Well.

I should be able to get them to you tomorrow. Maybe meet at the Barnes and Noble in Natomas? I would love some of the White Emp eggs if you have some....
