These are my first shipped eggs but I have heard large end up. These eggs that I got today were actually at an angle. The box was a little crunched on the corners so maybe some rough handling caused some of them to settle in a more horizontal position.

Those are some pretty eggs!

For all you seasoned hatchers out there...is it better to have eggs shipped large end up? The air cell is supposed to be at the top of the egg and when they ship them sideways would they be more likely to have detached air cells? I'm new to this, but have wondered if it would help...

I was wondering that too. When I got my eggs they were all on their sides, in bubble wrap, with shredded paper all around them. None were broken, but the air cells were a mess. Only 4 out of the 15 managed to develop at all. I have 3 left that are due to hatch Thursday.

I love this thread! I used to read several of the big threads (Ameraucana, Marans, etc.) but now this one and the tiny Langshan one are the only ones that I don't miss a day reading.

I am waiting and watching your project. I still really want one or two of those beautiful birds, but I have to thin out the boys in my hatch AND of course get my coop built

Yes, Lots of threads like that! Got beat up on one just this morning....Weird how people get.

I to not have CCLs anymore--they do not do well in the heat here-but When I did I quit going to that thread too.
