Some one needs to remind me not to go to the feed store when I've had a bad day. I HAD to go, because I was out of chicken food. OF Course they put all the new baby chicks right next to all the chicken stuff. They had a bunch of assorted bantam chicks, and they looked lonely. When I'm tired and emotional I have no chicken will power..... At least I only got 3.

I'm thinking this one is a Silkie.


Maybe a Cochin?

A friend of mine got her from the "assorted bantams". Any idea what she is?

They should have it at the Holiday Market, check in the baby aisle. Don't drip it in the beak, you don't want them to aspirate it. I just touch the dripper to the tip of their beak and they will usually drink it. If not, put the drip on the side and it will seep into their mouth.

ok I went to Holiday but they did not have it . However Cvs in Pollock Pines did. I just gave him some ( hmm better not be a him lol)
will see how it goes.

When others have hatched them they had black spots on them.

My guess is that it is some type of white rock or an Australorp crossed with a leghorn.

Pele hatched some during the New Years Day hatch.

Readyyyy. Hut....hut..... Break! Maybe that is supposed to be hike! Anyway looks like a home team huddle. Good luck with the last one. I helped one out that just laid there with his head hanging down the side of the carton for hours....... Did the whole vitamin thing and the probiotic water and I can't tell which one it is now. I also had a 3 day old Faveroll (sp)? that couldn't stand without falling over. Called her Roley Poley but she grew out of that finally. Oh, and I used the red on my first coop too!

I helped a Silver hatch this morning. It is still laying on its side in the bator breathing just not much movement. it will roles around but has not balance . I will give it till bed time then put it down. I have 5 healthy silvers though. I think my bator has messed the hatch up again though

arghhh. It was working so good last year. I even changed the wafer and no help.





I do not know if I even trust it as a hatcher if I buy a new one

Sorry to hear not as many hatched as you had hoped, but congrats on the ones that did and are healthy!

I had a similar disappointing hatch and my eggs weren't even shipped and it wasn't my incubator because I just had a 100% hatch from my own Ameraucana eggs

Out of 18 eggs, 3 were clears, 2 quitters, 1 pipped and died (it was deformed with only one hole for nostrils) one hatched on its own with a partially unabsorbed yoke (may not make it) 5 didn't hatch, so I ended up with 6 healthy chicks. I am just glad I got some of this line to work with now

I found the best way to give it is hold the chick in my hand and drop the PolyViSol on my finger and kind of scrape the chicks beak over the drop. And like Deb said, give it a water chaser by dipping it's beak in water.
