Candy glad you got some to start with.

Sadly the poor chick did not make it. After giving it the poly vi sol it seemed more perky but sadly was laying in the corner when I got up
Awww, darn it. I'm sorry it didn't make it! You certainly have some beauties for your project now

I am still working on the chick with the unabsorbed yoke. It has hardened and I am hoping will fall off, but there is so much of it. I have never dealt with this before so have no idea how it will turn out

Wow! He's a fighter for sure!

Beautiful babies! Are they also Ameraucanas?

Oh my such pretty chicks!
Thank-you

They are blue/black/splash wheaten Ameraucanas. I think the yellow chicks look so plain compared to colored chicks, but then they start getting their colored feathers coming in and they are so pretty! The roosters go through a funny mottled looking stage then develop solid blue or black bodies with the red heads, saddle feathers, wing bows and are just gorgeous! The hens stay cream colored with blue or black in the tail feathers and wing bows.

Here is a picture of one of my splash (no color in the tail and wings because she is a splash) wheaten Ameraucana hens and a wheaten Ameraucana rooster:

They are beautiful. I see why you want more. I keep hearing that wheaten is the hardest color to breed for but yours look great.

Thank-you

Look it's Santa chicken!

I have some of those!! I just couldn't get them to stand still to get the pictures.... Except mine just say Wheaten Ameraucana......They didn't say any blue/black/splash though, but I see a lot listed that way. You said blue/black/splash wheaten...... I am all confused now.

Hahaha, yes mine have exceptionally nice, large beards

Blue does not breed true (except self blue which is also called lavender) so blue x blue = 50% blue wheaten, 25% wheaten (black) 25% splash wheaten. Since I have a blue wheaten hen x blue wheaten rooster I get a percentage of all three color varieties. I also have a splash hen (pictured) so blue x splash = 50% blue, 50% splash chicks. I said Blue/Black/Splash "wheaten" since solid blue x solid blue Ameraucanas produce blue/black/splash chicks, but they are not the wheaten variety.

Possibly yours are from a wheaten x wheaten breeding which means the chicks would be 100% wheaten and that is why they were advertised as wheatens.
